It's a Naturals Evolution with Tim Holtz Ranger Ink - Day 8

 

Who needs big box stores for beautiful wall art for your children's rooms?  Today we have a fantastic idea for using our Naturals collection, Tim Holtz Ranger Ink distress paints and Clear Stamps to create a fun wall art project that is both easy and ready to decorate.  We also have a home décor category in our Naturals contest - just sayin'

 

We asked our design team to give you a great idea each day, and today is no excpetion.  Tania Willis shares a super cute and inspiring idea that is ready to hang on a wall or sit on a side table in a special someone's room.

Framed Mixed Media Project by Tania Willis

I am not exactly a mixed media expert so when I sat down to alter the Naturals Canvas with the Tim Holtz products I felt more than a little intimidated. I kept true to my paper crafting style, yet still had fun playing and experimenting with the Distress Paints to create a playful home décor item.  This is a project very simply framed in a RIBBA frame from IKEA.  

You’ve already heard from the others what’s so wonderful about the applicator, but what I loved most when creating this framed décor item was that I was able to add two different colors of paint in three layers and didn’t get any warping of my cardstock!  That’s unheard of with craft paint on the market today.  This product saturates the canvas easily without puddling, but also dries a bit slower than a typical acrylic craft paint giving you time to blend colors.

You can easily speed the process with a heat gun.  I really love the look of mixing altered canvas stickers alongside the unaltered canvas as you see with the large layered butterfly.  The memo pins, also from Tim Holtz, make for adorable antennae that hold a small sticker from the Just Because collection.
