We are really smitten with our Cycling Team Member Jennifer McCracken's old school Hollywood style with our Swoon collection. Jennifer really added a lot of glamour to our beautiful collection with her wonderful photos and design. But let's have Jennifer tell you all about it...
Hi everyone! I am SO thrilled to share my first project with you! I feel like I need a drumroll or something…this is my very first time being a guest designer. I am nervous and excited all in the same breath! When I first received all of the goodies in the mail I didn’t know where to begin. All of the ideas starting to “Swoon” in my head so I decided to start with the obvious- my wedding. Believe it or not- I’ve never had the opportunity to scrapbook ANY of my photos! This collection is just beautiful…from the soft colors, gorgeous flowers, to all of the wonderful embellishments that go with it. I discovered there’s so much to this collection that it could go with just about any kind of wedding photo (or color scheme) you want to scrap (reception, posed, dancing, funny, etc.).
I am an embellishment girl (as my best friend calls me) and the more dimension and layers- the better! I used one large photo (5x7) as my focal point. I matted it with 5 1/8 x 7 1/8 cardstock. I then added several pieces of patterned paper behind and began to add flowers and layer chipboard pieces around the lower right hand corner. I also added pearls to the flower and chipboard to add some elegance.
From there I extended a chipboard border from that cluster to draw the eye to the left hand side of the layout towards the adhesive strip and added gemstones to those as well.
Up in the right hand corner I included three doves as if they were flying off of the page- 2 chipboard doves plus one sticker with a pop dot.
Cream cardstock- 12 x 12
Shimmer grey cardstock- 11 ¾ x 11
SW 109 modern elegance- 10 ¾ x 10 ¾
SW 105 unveiled- 9 x 5 (matted 9 1/8 x 5 1/8)
SW 107 paisley Entwined- 8 x 6 (matted 8 1/8 x 6 1/8)
SW 279 chipboard shapes
SW 305 paper flower kit
SW 197 pearl and jewel stickers
SW 135 cardstock stickers- favorite pieces
SW 140 cardstock stickers- fresh verse
In each of the envelopes I wrote to my husband how I loved what HE did to make the day special (since I did most of the planning!) for me. There were only five envelopes so to finish the grid I punched squares to “fill in the blanks” and decorated them with various stickers and flowers.
Then to ground the actual photo I slid a journaling card underneath it, added some more pearls (I am LOVING the pearls apparently!) and adhered the fourth envelope to it.
For the bottom left-hand corner I wanted to ground the title sticker so I added some paper flowers behind it as well as on top of it….again- using brads and pearls to jazz it up!
To start I used the decorative edge cardstock as the matting for the photo. I think it’s just beautiful to use when your focal point is one photo. I used the Wedding March patterned paper to ground that. From there I concentrated on my title- LOVE. I put it in the lower right-hand corner layered over a clear cut circle and a punched circle. I filled in flowers and butterflies around it- adding special touches such as jewels and pins.
In the top corner of the page I used more chipboard and fabric flowers, butterflies, and clear cut shapes on top of and behind the photo- again, adding more pearls and jewels.

That’s it! Thank you SO much for allowing me to share all of my layouts from The Swoon Collection and coming along with me for my first ride with Little Yellow Bicycle! I’ve had a blast and I’ve enjoyed the challenge. It has been an honor and a pleasure to work with such great products and great people. I’m sad to see it come to an end but hopefully I’ll be back soon!
