We are so happy to share a Swoon project idea from Biker Chick Robbie Herring. Robbie has a knack for ribbon among other things and she is going to share some of her secrets. But, let's have Robbie tell you all about it...
I am so excited to be one of the newest Biker Chicks! It is my pleasure to be able to share a layout with you all using the new Swoon Collection. This collection is just so perfect for weddings that I just couldn't resist making a wedding layout. The details on the papers are stunning and I really love the silver touches that appear throughout the collection.
When I was thinking about what I wanted to do with my page, I kept thinking of wedding dresses, corsets and all those pretty things that go into getting the bride ready for her big day. I had thought that I might do some ribbon lacing to mimic the look of a corset, but when I pulled out the paper to get started, I knew that I HAD to use that beautiful decorative edge cardstock. So, I cut all four edges from the outside of the paper to give myself 4 equal pieces of beautiful edging. I then added eyelets to the points of each piece and ran a piece of ribbon through them as shown.
Tip: Insert the ribbon through the eyelets before you adhere your pieces to the page. After you adhere the pieces, tighten up your ribbon and tie your bow.
I like to layer my embellishments on my pages. You can see here that I used the layered sticker shapes over the top of the chipboard shape. I added foam tape to the back of the sticker to make it layer nicely and stay smooth.
I also used the flower kit in this grouping. The leaves were made using a punch. Don't forget to think of the 6x6 paper pads for adding the same terrific papers, but on a smaller scale. I used a punch for the flower center with this in mind.
Tip: I had a large blank space in my picture. Think about adding embellishments that overlap for these areas. I used a small piece of chipboard to pull my picture into the page design without taking away from the focus of the picture.
I added another grouping to this area for more balance for my page. I used a the flower kit, fabric favorites, chipboard and stickers for this grouping. I like the look of different textures that mixing up the different types of embellishments adds.
