Today is just a little bit bittersweet because we have one more project to share from Paradise Guest Designer Izzy Anderson and of course we have been so impressed with all of her work! However, we feel pretty confident that we will see more LYB projects from her in the future. So on that thought, here is what Izzy has to share today...

Hi, it’s Izzy back again today with another project with the new Paradise collection. I just love this line. The colors are so warm and appealing and I found the patterns easy to work with and to mix and match. It occurred to me that it’s partly because the colors of this line are the same as the colors in my home. I guess you could say I live in paradise! I’ll have to remind myself of that the next time I step on one of my toddler’s Lego blocks and bemoan my small closets.
The Paradise embellishments have so many fun quips and meaningful quotes. I decided to use this quote from the Tear-Out Tickets as the focal point of my home décor project: “Each day holds the possibilities for great opportunities and hidden joy.” Love the meaning behind this expression: that each day is a fresh start, brimming with the possibility of good things. It makes me happy just to think of that! I also like the end of the quote about the “hidden joy.” I don’t normally think of joy as hidden and I like this reminder that sometimes you have to look to find the joy. That is true about life. Sometimes we have to look and it’s good to be reminded.
So armed with this terrific quote, I set out to spotlight it. One of my favorite quick projects is to find a frame I already have around the house and breathe new life into it. I found a plain brown frame with a thick 8x10 mat on one of our bookshelves. This was the perfect frame because removing the mat would give me some wiggle room under the glass for the quote, some scrapbook paper, a bit of chipboard and small embellishments.
I gathered the papers in the collection and a square punch and begin punching some squares of my favorite designs. I punched 30 two-inch squares, then laid them on a grid, five down and six across. I didn’t adhere them to the cardstock yet. I moved them around until I was satisfied, alternating bold patterns and whimsical ones, then lightly tacked each one down with a bit of tape in the middle. I left the edges loose since I would be sewing the grid and didn’t want my needle to get too sticky.
I used a hot pink thread to sew up and down each column and across each row to give a punch a color. Then, I added the quote from the Tear Out Ticket, embellishing it with a chipboard tree and flower stickers, and teal stitching around the edges.
Then I popped the quilted mat into the frame and added a sweet little birdie to the lower right corner.
This project brings a close to my four-week Guest Designer stint with Little Yellow Bicycle. I am already feeling a little sad about that. I have had such fun working with Liz and the LYB crew and I want to thank them all for their kindnesses to me and for this terrific opportunity to work with the Paradise collection. I loved every moment! I also want to say how very much I appreciate the Little Yellow Bicycle fans for stopping by here and Facebook and my blog and for saying such nice things. You warmed my heart. No need to look for hidden joy. It was all in the open. Thank you.

This is beautiful! Love the quilt-like look to this project, and thanks for that quote. It's a lovely message, especially for a piece if home decor that we might see everyday.
