We are so pleased to introduce Robbie Herring, the wearer if the "yellow jersey" today. Robbie has some wonderful projects to share with our Hello Fall! collection. Along with the two layouts she created, she also has a great idea for altering a canvas as a home decor item. You can make one just like Robbie's with our Hello Fall! collection, or you could try the same idea with our Wonder & Wishes or Winter Twig collections.
Here's Robbie...
This collection couldn't have been any more perfect for some pumpkin patch pictures that I had. The colors were just perfect. Using the fabric banner sticker for the title was a natural choice for this precious picture. I really loved the dimension of it and, of course, it's so pretty!
The embellishing in the lower left corner includes a LOT of the fabulous embellishments included in this collection. The different textures of the embellishments are so great for clustering. Little Yellow Bicycle rocks the embellishments every time! There are paper, fabric, shiny and even clear pieces all together in the cluster. I like to use foam dots to vary the height of my embellishments when I'm clustering embellishments. I find that clustering is easiest if I start by placing my large pieces and then start to tuck smaller pieces in and then add those tiny extras, like jewels, to complete the look.
I added some stitching around the die cut shape to help draw the eye to the title and for extra detail.
A border piece from the die cut shapes, a fabric piece and paper flowers complete the top section of the design. More detailing was added to the flower by using foam dots in the center. I used a flower punch for the blue center and finsihed it off with a jewel.
More pictures from the pumpkin patch! Choosing the backsides of the papers allowed the pictures to take center stage. With their beautiful prints, the backsides worked perfectly for this page. I again chose to use one of the embellishments for the title. This time, it was from the corrugated shapes.
The journaling cards are just the right size for double duty to incorporate into the actual design of this page and to tell more of the story. I love little details and dimension on my pages, so I added stitched lines around parts of the design. I also added foam dots to my flowers to add dimension and to make layering easy. Of course, if you know me, you know that my pages seldom appear without a touch of ribbon somewhere. I added the leaf stickpins to the bow.
Foam dots were also added to one of the chipboard pumpkins so I could overlap it with the other pumpkin. Little bows of matching floss, a touch of twine and a cardstock leaf were the final embellishing touches.
Products Used: Hello Fall!
Patterned Paper: Green Splendor, Red Splendor, Walnut Knit, Bundle Up Blue, Burnt Orange Knit, Chipboard Shapes, Fabric Favorites, Journaling Cards, Cardstock Die Cuts- Fresh Verse, Corrugated Shapes, Stick Pins, Paper Flower Kit. Other: Orange Gingham Ribbon, Brown DMC Floss, Twine
I made this little canvas to set out at Thanksgiving. You could easily change it up for any holiday because there are so many words included in the embellishments with this collection. Another idea would be playing up all of the reds in this collection to use it for Christmas Time. Just take a look at the collection. There is red paper, red clear cuts, a red apple, red flowers... you get the idea! Try mixing them with all of the lovely greens, too.
I started out by putting everything together on just the paper. Different heights, adding buttons and stitching detail make this more than just a flat piece. The chipboard word pieces add their own dimension all on their own. I like the idea of mixing some cardstock leaves with the felt leaves for more texture.
Absolutely beautiful work Robbie and such fine detail, not to mention that there is so much to look at on each and every piece. :)
