Sigh... I guess it's time to admit it's finally over.
Summer that is.
Autumnal equinox and all.
In spite of the morning chill in the air I have been digging in my heels and holding on to summer for all I'm worth. Who cares that the kids are back in school! Who cares that I've had to pull out the jeans and sweaters once or twice! It's still summer until ... well...today.
The leaves have been turning here in CT for weeks, but now that the calendar is turning, I have to get with the program and move on to Fall already. Now don't get me wrong. I really do love Fall. Here in the Northeast I love the colors, crisp sunny days, savory cooking [not to mention our new Hello Fall! collection ;) ... who wouldn't love fall with that around, huh? ]
And then I just say to myself ... just wait a minute here ... not so fast! Let's have a little last hurrah for summer! If you're like me, you'll be scrappin' those summer pictures well into 2012 [in fact, I think there's something special about scrapping the beach pics when the snow is falling outside!].
So today I'm going to share some Sweet Summertime goodness from the Biker Chicks! For one last hurrah!
[And read on dear blog followers! There's a chance for you to win some Sweet Summertime goodness for yourself at the end of this post!]
So let's get started, why don't we? First up, this adorable little layout from Biker Chick Liz Qualman. There's something about boys and boats...isn't there?
And a few close up shots:
Next up, Biker Chick Renee Foss shared this amazing shadowbox just full of great summer memories!
... and a detail shot:
....swoon.. Love this!
And last but certainly not least, Tania Willis posted these two awesome Sweet Summertime layouts on her blog earlier this summer and I've been meaning to share them with you. But I kept forgetting! Shame on me!
Here's the first. You can't beat the photo of that cutie Emma, and I love how Tania kept it simple ... but simply perfect! Check out that sun!
And the details:
And next up, how cute are these two muggin' it up for the camera? And how cool is it that Tania used this versatile summery collection on a page that really isn't summery at all? Love this!
And a couple close ups to show all the detail and dimesion!
If you want to scraplift this layout (and who wouldn't? ... though for finding the big wax lips I must tell you ... you are on your own!) just follow the link I posted above for detailed instructions!
Three cheers for the Biker Chicks! You guys are great!
And now for the LOOT!
I personally went over to our warehouse and raided - RAIDED I tell you! - that Sweet Summertime collection. I have two AMAZING prize packs to share with two people who leave a comment. We're talking papers, stickers, and embellies galore people! Who wants 'em???
Just tell me about YOUR last hurrah of summer.
Here is mine...I decided to run the Hartford Half Marathon in a couple weeks. This is big for me and I'm not quite sure I'm ready but there's only one way to find out. And let me tell you, running in the CT humidity today ... it sure felt like summer to me! So now that I think about it - bring on that cool weather already! I'm wilting like steamed spinach out there!
Can't wait to hear YOUR story!
-Peg

My last hurrah of summer is definitely spending the last few days of indian summer outside soaking up the last bits of summer sun with my boys - catching grasshoppers, swimming, running through the sprinklers, and playing baseball. It's been an uncharacteristically warm early fall!

My last summer hurrah is putting all my summer pictures together and getting ready to scrap them. Love this line! There is no longer a scrapbook store in the area so I miss seeing all the Little Yellow Bicycle when they come out!

My last hurrah was today! An absolutely gorgeous day, our house finally turned into our home...atleast today we realized it! We have been working on our house for a couple of years, and a big project we took on ourselves was finished today! We finished siding our house! We sat in the gorgeous sun and chilled lakeside with a nice beverage admiring our hard work! Good Bye Summer, Winter, we are now ready!

The last Summer hurrah for me won't be here for a while. You see, here in Texas it's still in the 90s and feels every bit of Summer even though the calendar says otherwise. Whatever I choose to do to close out that season, I am sure will be a biggie though ...
Good luck on your half marathon! My husband is an ultra-marathon runner, mostly running trails so I suppose his last hurray will be a trail run.

Those wax lip photos are the cutest!
It still feels like summer here in NC. Was 91 degrees today. We haven't had our last hurrah yet. I'm thinking that we will sneak in one more beach trip. Nothing like a little sun and surf.

My last hurrah was helping to put on my grand-daughter's first birthday party. I made all the decorations and had a blast watching the kids play in the blow up pool, sprinklers and on the slip and slide while the parents sipped cold drinks and relaxed in the shade. Fun!!

How fun!! I love scrapping Summer pics once Summer is over because it brings back all the fun memories!! Our last Summer hurrah would have been a few weeks ago when we went swimming over at my Aunt's house ALL day with a brand new waterproof camera! Talk about some awesome shots for scrapping. ;)

My big hurrah I must admit is also holding out from turning the furnace on. It was 62* in my house yesterday and a bit warmer today in So. Colo...so don't know how much longer I will hold out. LOL. I will be celebrating the end of summer and the beginning of fall by scrapbooking our summer vacation tonight with friends at a crop.

Since it has been very cool for the last 2 wks in MN, I am hoping for that last hurrah yet to come. Other than that...MN State Fair is always the best...Cheese Curds, Catfish, and having a brew, sitting on a park bench in the waning summer evening, listening to Def Leppard with the Love of my life, was defintely the best of it!

My last hurrah for the summer was taking 2 of my grandkids and my husband to Sea World for an amazing 2 day weekend! We stayed at a SUPER nice hotel, ate to our hearts' contents, rode every ride we could possibly ride, saw every show and had a wonderful time! I took a TON of pictures too. One of them was the two kids (10 and 7) "pretending" to lick a glacier in the Arctic. Hehehe! What FUN we all had!

I love love love this collection! Thank you so much for the chance to win some of it :) We stretched our Summer to the very last second. We decided to visit and stay with our friends in Las Vegas. They have 5 kids and I huge pool. We stayed at their house and got to play in it every day. And we got to visit with our best friends. We didn't come home until 10 pm the night before school! It was awesome. There wasn't enough time for my son to get nervous about starting 3rd grade.

We never got to the beach this summer due to all our work schedules and responsibilities!! So I got us a condo in New Orleans and we flew out for a week to just eat and play tourist in someone else's backyard. Just the fun of being together for the first time all summer was great! With 2 grown sons and a high school daughter, it was a wonderful last hurrah for summer-Jazz, char-grilled oysters, and the sights of New Orleans.

I missed our last summer hurrah because of rain and flooding. Had planned to spend an extended weekend at a camp ground in PA with son and grand daughter but Mother Nature had other plans. The camp ground totally flooded and probably won't even reopen this year. I do consider myself fortunate as so many lost home etc. and are trying to put their lives back together. It was just recently doing the pruning in the garden to prepare for the colder months. I noticed that many flowers we planted this year that did not flower have now flowered and look beautiful. We have pansies, freesia, roses and some I don't even know the name of. It looks beautiful and better than it has all summer long. Also inspired me to take some photographs, so I'll be making some cards with those soon.

My last hurrah is a bit sad--but when I throw out the plants from my pots (that managed to survive in ALL of the hot weather we had) it means summer is over. But I too am ready for the cooler temps--windows open, cool crisp nights to watch football and changing leaves.

Since I think of summer ending when school starts, I'd say our last hurrah was our last trip to the waterpark right before my kids went back to school. We got season passes this year, and I think we'll do it every year from now on! My kids each invited a friend, and we spent all day sliding and swimming, and just relaxing by the pools! honestly, we have a way to go before the weather feels like autumn here in S. Texas, and the waterpark was a great way to beat the heat!

Our last hurrah was going down to the ice cream shop in our town, treating ourselves with each our big, juicy ice cream :) Feel ready for autumn now though, it's actually my favourite time of year (and I do also love to sit down when it's cold outside and scrap those summertime memories :) )
Have a happy weekend, and thanks for the chance to win :)

We went to the cottage and the kids went swimming for one last time last weekend. A perfect way to wave goodbye to summer.:)

What? Summer is over? We'll be doing the same crazy stuff even when the snow hits the ground. Soccer and volleyball!
Love those layouts!

We showed them the houses we lived in NEXT Door when we MET [yep I literally married the Boy NExt door ]...we visited our old haunts like the Shrimp shack and took our yummies to Bowman bay and went crabbin', while eating on the dock.... Sign... It was GREAT!

My last hurrah of the summer was taking my two girls to see Carrie Underwood at the Mystic Lake Ampitheater. In 2010, I could only get two tickets to see Carrie Underwood at the Minnesota State Fair. That meant one of my daughters had to stay home. My oldest daughter was kind and let her little sister go. This year, I got to reward her by taking them both to see her. A great fun end to the summer!!
