I've been married for 50 years now and the favorite recipe around here is chocolate wacky cake. It's wacky because there are no eggs in it, but it is very delicious. Everyone asks for it for their birthdays and family reunions.

I'm sorry but I had a small error on my previous post...
I listed that what made the meatloaf different was adding A1 Sauce and a forth of honey.... It should have read per 5 lbs of ground beef, I use a half cup of honey. ~oops
Posted by: Angela L. | Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 02:02 AM
Simple as this: I adore the new collection and it would be so yummy to create with but my layouts wouldn't include any pictures of me cooking because even though I've been trying to master the technique of cooking for the better part of 25 years, I STILL burn boiling water! I used to think that the best recipe that passed onto me was the family meatloaf recipe and it was about the only thing that I could actually cook. What made it different was adding A1 Sauce and a forth of honey. I liked it and so did all of my friends however the first time and only time that I made it for my husband, he hated it. He didn't tell me this until about 3 months later as he was driving down the road & suddenly it slipped out... I was crushed, I bawled and threatened divorce! Now 7 years later, he still hates that recipe and I've never fixed it again... I have experimented with about a dozen other meatloaf recipes and still haven't found the perfect one yet!

My new favorite recipe comes from my granddaughter. She is 11 and wanted to saute apples with butter. I told her we could try it and before it was done, I told her to add some brown sugar after the sliced apples were soft. We added a lot of sugar and she loved it even better than when she created it herself. I told her to add some cinnamon next time and she absolutely loved it. I want to scrap and savor this memory with your wonderful Savor papers and embellishments! We just love LYB!

She is still here, at 85 years old, and I think this line just might inspire me to get this done!!! I love all of her recipes and some of my fondest moments are of her in the kitchen teaching me to cook. She makes the best pies, roasts, and chicken and dumplings!

So many favorite recipes since my family has a wide variety of tastes. Each child requests a different meals when they come home. The most requested would be the "Smashed Potato Casserole"
*Scrub potatoes, quarter & boil until tender (with skins on). I use a couple different varieties, such as plain ole Idaho spuds to yukon golds, to add color. Also I add a couple chicken bouillon cubes to water.
*Drain water, leaving about a half inch in bottom of pan.
*Smash the heck out of the potatoes, lovingly leaving some lumps.
*Add butter, lots of it! Mix in milk (not too much -- don't want it runny) and some sour cream, to taste.
*Add salt & pepper, to taste.
*Mix in grated cheeses.
*Place into a buttered casserole dish, covered with grated cheese.
*Bake in oven about 375 until cheese is nice & crusty on top.
Enjoy!

One of my favorite things to do is "Build your own Stromboli"
This is great for the entire family.
Start with pizza crust (canned is fine)
Then put out all of the toppings and everyone can fill their own stromboli.
Then before you bake, brush a small amount of EVOO on the top and sprinkle Oregano Flakes.
Bake according to directions, and enjoy!
It is GREAT to gather in the kitchen to build your own.
A fun, yet interactive dinner!

Since I'm gluten-free, all of my recipes are too! )Imagine that?!) My fave is my homemade bread. So much like regular bread, most don't know the difference! Which is extremely rare for GF Bread! I'd love to make a recipe book of my favorite GF recipes! Thanks for the chance for some goodies!

My MIL passed away very unexpectedly last year. She was known for so many wonderful recipes that we took her recipe box and ran copies of every single one for each sibling and grandchild. I have been wanting to make some sort of album or book with my favorites in them to honor my amazing MIL. Savor is the PERFECT line to do it! I am so excited!!! My favorite MIL family recipe is her Dressing or Stuffing as some may call it. She would save chicken livers, gibblets and necks in the freezer until she had enough to make a yummy batch. She simmered all these with onions, celery and chicken stock in a pot for hours. My hubby and I have been given the honor of making "mom's dressing" and bringing now to the family gatherings! Thanks for allowing me to share this memory.

One of our family favorite recipes is "Fresh Apple Cake" There have only been two people who have been able to bake this cake perfectly. My 16 year old daughter and her great-grandmother. Granny would be so proud of her. Thanks for the chance to win. :)

My favorite family recipe of all time is my mom's sage dressing that I only get at Thanksgiving and Christmas. OMGoodness, it's heaven on a plate! My mom has has been making it for as long as I can remember and it's one of the best things about the holidays.

A favorite family recipe is The Mother Ship, aka a chocolate ladyfinger cake that's made in a big bowl. The first time my BIL saw it (we only make it at Christmas) he said, "OMG! It's the mother ship!" The name stuck.
A favorite for any potluck which I'm required to bring is my meatballs. I can't take credit for the recipe, it is from Ocean Spray that appeared in one of those newspaper coupon book inserts on a Sunday. One bag meatballs, one jar chili sauce, one can JELLIED cranberry sauce. Dump it all in to a crockpot and cook on high for a couple hours.

Our favorite family recipe is:
Waikiki Meatballs
Ingredients
• 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
• 2/3 cup crushed saltine cracker crumbs
• 1/3 cup minced onion
• 1 egg
• 1/4 cup milk
• 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
•
• 2 tablespoons cornstarch
• 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
• 1 (15 ounce) can pineapple chunks - drained, with juice reserved
• 1/3 cup white vinegar
• 1 tablespoon soy sauce
• 1/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
Directions
1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, cracker crumbs, onion, egg, milk, ginger and salt. Shape mixture by rounded tablespoonfuls into meatballs.
2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place meatballs in skillet and cook until evenly brown, and meat is no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
3. In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch, brown sugar, reserved pineapple juice, vinegar and soy sauce. Mix until smooth, then pour into the skillet with meatballs. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils, about 5 minutes. Stir in the green pepper and pineapple chunks. Heat through.

One favourite family recipe is for spaghetti pie - a spaghetti casserole. It's a hit despite having broken the casserole dish lid OVER the meal the first time I served it!

I love this line. I could really Savor using it.
One of our family favorites is meatloaf and I have one of the easiest recipes on earth. You need approximately 3 lbs of ground beef (no need to be exact), 3 eggs & 2 pkgs of dry onion soup mix (get onion-mushroom to be fancy). Mix all ingredients, form in meat loaf pan & bake @ 450 for 1 hour. It will have a slight crust when done. Let stand 10 min & enjoy.
Thanks for the opportunity to win.

Our favorite family recipe is Thanksgiving in a Pot. It's easy and you can enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner all year long without all the extra work! In a dutch oven or crock pot, lay whole pieces of chicken, top with one box of Stove top dressing, add one cup of chix broth, 2 tbl. butter, one can of yams, one can cream of chix soup, and "bake" on low for 2 hours. Add 1 cup of frozen green beans during last 15 minutes. Serve with cranberry sauce ... it's so nummy! I love this new line!!
