We are super excited to share projects from some of our fans who "ride with us."  In case you are not a cycling enthusiast, the Peloton is the large pack of riders in a road bicycle race, like the Tour de France.  We know we have a lot of riders in our Peloton, so we would love to share what a few of them have been up to with some of our collections.

Maya Road LYB Blog Swap image

It's Little Yellow Bicycle/Maya Road Blog Swap Week Day 2, and I have some GREAT projects to show you ... this time created by Biker Chick Liz Qualman!

But first, let me thank everyone who has left a comment here and on our Facebook page! And very special thanks and welcome to our new friends and fans from Maya Road. We love how Maya Road's products add beauty and rich texture to our projects - and it's so much fun teaming them up with our favorite Little Yellow Bicycle collections!

Don't forget to leave a comment on the blog for a chance to win some wonderful Maya Road and LYB goodies! We'll be picking a winner at the end of our Blog Swap Week. And while you're hopping, be sure to hop over to Liz's blog, and check that out too [maybe tell her we sent you ;) ]!

You're going to love how Liz combined Maya Road's albums and embellishments with the whimsical Twig collection to make some must-have cards and an album cover too!

So let's take a peek! Here's Liz...

LYBMayaRoad2_LizQualman

After looking through the gorgeous loot that Maya Road sent to the team, I thought it would be fun to play with some TWIG.  I like to keep the design of my cards simple with the focus on the sentiment and major embellishment.  This card is a simple 6 x 6 inch base with two of the Twig patterned papers (Leaf A Note/Topsy Turvey and Woods/Pleased Plaid) along with some of the Paper Lace Stickers, Fabric Favorites and Fresh Verse Stickers.  The sentiment steals the show, but I added the fabric leaves and the Maya Road Candy Stripe Blossoms to frame it for a dramatic effect.

LYBMayaRoad3_LizQualman

I just adore the Twig Bird Song paper and thought it would be a fun element to add to another simple card.  You can see all of the lovely and decadent design in the paper along with the beautiful birds.  To complete the look I added a Twig Canvas Sticker Border, Chipboard Stickers w/ Glitter, Epoxy Stickers and the Maya Road Felt Pearl Blossoms.  Super easy to make and such a lovely card to send to a special friend.

Maya Road also sent us this adorable Tea Pot Chipboard Album.  Instead of making the mini album, I decided to incorporate it into this larger Maya Road 8 x 8 album.  I thought the Twig Bird Song paper looked like porcelain and was perfect for the tea pot.

LYBMayaRoad4_LizQualman
I added a combination of Twig patterned papers, Fresh Verse, Paper Lace, Favorite Pieces stickers, Paper Doilies, Fabric Favorites, Bag of Feathers and a Maya Road Gingham Fabric Blossom in brown.

 LYBMayaRoad5_LizQualman

The Chipboard Tea Pot was a nice way to add some dimension and character to the project, plus it looks gorgeous in Twig.

LYBMayaRoad6_LizQualman

All of the element layer so well together, it was almost as if these Maya Road blossoms were made especially for the Twig collection.

Thanks Liz! I think I'm going to make some of these cards TONIGHT!!! But wait! There's a BONUS!

Liz also made this adorable card, using elements from LYB's Tiny Princess collection - accented by a Maya Road gingham flower! So cute!

LYBMayaRoad1_LizQualman

See you tomorrow with more goodies!

And don't forget to leave a comment for more chances to win!

Lybma

Wednesday is hump-day and happily greeted by most of us working schlubs because it's halfway through the work week. Sadly this week it means we're halfway through our blog week with May Arts :(

Still let's try to look at the bright side - we're only halfway through! PLUS Wednesdays are prize days over on Facebook, so in case you're not a Facebook follower, go over to our Facebook Page and leave a comment under our Wednesday Challenge for another chance to win more May Arts and LYB goodies.

Then make sure you go over to May Arts' page too for yet another chance to win! And then don't forget to leave a comment on the blog also for your chance to win our blog prize pack. Sheesh. So many chances to win! I think we're spoiling you!

And now on to the fun stuff...

It's card day! And I have a few lovely cards for you, designed by our talented Biker Chicks! First up, a couple from Liz Qualman:

LYBMayArtsCard1_LizQualman

I love the blues, greens and yellows in the Elizabeth Park collection, so it was perfect that May Arts sent us this beautiful Solid Plaid yellow ribbon.  I added a simple bow to my card, but included a chipboard flower with some bling and two Twig stick pins to complete the look.  Love how the Elizabeth Park Journaling Cards combined with the Fresh Verse Stickers make great sentiments for cards.

LYBMayArtsCard2_LizQualman

I cannot express how gorgeous the May Arts Satin Pleats ribbon is in person.  I had to use some on this card with just a little bit of the lace trim they sent us.  The gray in the ribbon was the perfect shade to complement these gorgeous Elizabeth Park (Fuchsia Flower Dots and Bloom Bands).  I simply added a couple of the Chipboard Stickers and a Fabric Favorites sentiment for good measure.

And now here's one from Biker Chick Tania Willis!

Twillis_maya_bloom card

Hi guys! It's Tania! Wow the May Arts ribbons go so nicely with the Elizabeth Park collection! I had a lot of fun matching the ribbons to the papers and embellishments in my stash! Here are some step-by-step instructions so you can make this card for yourself!

1. Cut white cardstock to 7" x 10". Fold in half to form card base.

2. Cut EP - 102 Bloom Bands paper to 5" x 4". Adhere to card front.

3. Apply Tacky Tape strips just above and just below the paper.

4. Apply May Arts Green Twill ribbon along the bottom of paper. Trim overhang.

5. Apply May Arts Grey Satin Pleat ribbon along the top of paper. Trim overhang.

6. Adhere "bloom" sticker from EP - 135 Favorite Pieces with dimensional foam tape.

7. Create accordion folded blossom from EP - 305 Paper Flower Kit.

8. Adhere one flower embellishment from EP -219 Flower Button Dots on top of accordion flower and another just beside it.

9. Adhere green lace sticker from EP - 161 Paper Lace Stickers.

10. Cut 10" of May Arts Teal Shear/Line Edge ribbon and tie in bow. Adhere with gluedots.

11. Adhere pink felt flower from Maya Road using glue dots.

12. Adhere three additional flowers from EP - 220 - Fabric Favorites.

Biker Chick Greta Hammond made this beautiful Twig portfolio for CHA Winter, and for me ... it was love at first sight! I thought "Wow. Now if I had one of these to jot my inspirations in (or even my "to do" list), well, things just might get done around here!" Take a look:

A recent cyber-stroll through the blog-o-sphere turned up a bunch of great Twig and Elizabeth Park projects! So hop on the Little Yellow Tourbicycle with us for today's ride through Blogland and we'll show you what we found!

First up, Biker Chick Tania Willis posted this beautiful layout on her blog, featuring the Twig collection and her handsome hubby:

Tania Willis_You're My Favorite

Here's a close up:

Tania Willis_You're My Favorite2

We keep telling you how versatile the Twig collection is - doesn't it look great with this photo of Tania's husband? And we certainly don't think he'll complain that it's too frou-frou, do you? For more info and photos of this layout, check out Tania's post here.

Next up, did you know that Biker Chick Liz Qualman writes for ScrapStreet.com Magazine? Yesterday, they ran a great article by Liz talking about how to use stickers to add polish and dimension to your pages. It featured this page by Liz, created using the Elizabeth Park collection:

LizQualman_Elizabeth Park_ ScrapStreet

Love it! Here's another close up:

Liz Qualman_Elizabeth Park Layout2

Click here to read the entire article by Liz, and to see more photos of this adorable layout!

Next up, we travel back a couple weeks to the Archiver's Blog - for a fun feature on many scrapbookers' favorite topic ... scraplifting! Archiver's took this Twig album:

  Archivers_Twig Album

And scraplifted it to create this Elizabeth Park album:

Archivers_Elizabeth park Album

According to the blog post, (which you can read in its entirety here), you can see a sample of this Elizabeth Park album at your local Archivers! (Be sure to scraplift it!)

And finally we travel back in time to a blog I bookmarked way back in February! This post, from Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine's blog features Karen Grunberg. I started following her blog after I saw this post. She got it in her head to take a family photo every week and it's so much fun to read her posts all about her weekly successful (and sometimes not-so-successful) family photo shoots - as well as her every day posts about a busy, creative, working mom's life (Can you relate? Yes I think so!)...an ambitious undertaking, to say the least. But such great results, I must say!

So here's the page she created using the Elizabeth Park collection:

Karen Grunberg Layotu_Elizabeth Park

And a close up:

Karen Grunberg_Elizabeth Park Layout2

M-m-m!! You can read the entire post here - with more photos! And you can follow Karen's blog (and see more of her amazing photography) by clicking here to go to Karen's blog!

... And thus ends our tour of the blog-o-sphere for today. We hope you've enjoyed the journey and it has inspired you to pull out your paper, scissors, and glue! Please be sure to "tip" your driver by posting a comment if YOU spy one of LYB's collections out there in Blogland! Happy trails!

Do you ever look at a layout and think ... gee I wish I had thought to do that? Well this is one of those layouts. I love it when someone shows me how to take a simple embellishment and with a twist or a crumple...take it to the next level. Take a look:

Twillis_TW_be yourself layout for training reel

See what I mean? Love those flowers! And the best part? It looks complicated - but it's not! You CAN do it. Tania shows you how! From the paint splatters to the simple-to-make-but-WOW-how-did-she-think-of-that flowers (three different kinds), everything about this layout is just cool. Not to mention, it features the oh-so-cool Twig collection. So there's that too.

Here are a couple more close-ups of those amazing Twig flowers:

I can't really decide which one is my favorite, but I think it's this one!

We are so excited March is here! So much going on. Later today, we'll be announcing the winners to February's Twig sketch challenge and in a couple of weeks...Elizabeth Park starts shipping (with any luck, just in time for spring here in the Northeast)!

One sad note about welcoming March is saying goodbye to our February Guest Designer, Iris Babao Uy. We have loved the way Iris has inspired us applying her unique style to our Twig collection. This last share is just as lovely ... it's Iris' take on our Twig envelope album....enjoy!

_MG_8234

Little Yellow Bicycle just thinks of everything to make crafting very easy and lots of fun - even this mini-album kit. With a kit like this with pre-cut pages and papers to go with it, plus the beautiful embellishments in the Twig line, it becomes so easy and so fun to create an album for yourself or as a gift for a friend.  Here is the cover of the album I made and pictures of some of the pages inside.

What a fun week! So much inspiration to share ... a new Twig Training Reel yesterday, Cupcake Love inspiration from the Glue Girls Designers all week, and now ... a new layout from our Twig Guest Designer Iris Babao Uy!

First a little more Q&A with Iris!

LYB:  What's your favorite die cutting system?

Iris:   Sizzix!! I need dimension. So if it’s die-cuts it’s got to be with chipboard.

LYB:  Morning bird or night owl?

Iris:   I’m a night and day kinda gal!

LYB:  Computer or handwritten journaling?

Iris:    Handwritten but definitely hidden! My writing is a mess! Very small letters but very messy still.

LYB:   How long does it typically take you to complete a layout?

Iris:    One to two hours. I’m pretty fast at it because I stick the papers as I go. That way I can’t keep changing my mind.

LYB:   Do you use any tools that are not specifically designed for scrapbooking?

Iris:    I use mediums that are designed for painting and other crafts.

Discoveries mf

As a mother of two girls, I rarely create boy themed pages. But when I saw the "Twig" line, I knew that it would be perfect for both girly themed pages and masculine pages as well. And because the collection comes with so many embellishments... it was so easy to create this masculine outdoor themed page for my husband.

Here are a few more close-ups!

Thanks so much for sharing your creativity Iris! We'll be back with one more post from Iris before the end of the month (and you can follow Iris' blog by clicking here). Meanwhile - you only have a few more days to enter the Twig Sketch Challenge. [Click this link for all the details!] We've received a lot of entries and we'd LOVE to add yours to the mix! You have until midnight EST on Monday, 2/28/11 to enter!!

We're happy to welcome Iris Babao Uy as our February Guest Designer for Twig, and to share some of Iris' projects with you! In addition to creating some gorgeous layouts with Twig, and then she mixed it up a bit and combined Twig with Cupcake Love! What fun.

Iris uses a unique style - starting with a blank - usually white - background page for almost all of her layouts. Onto this background canvas, Iris layers colors, papers and textures for an amazing and truly one-of-a-kind look!

{NOTE: If you love this look, be sure to check out the brand new glitter mists and paints and pigments from the Art-C mixed media collection, also from The C-Thru Ruler Company, LYB's parent company!}

And now, before we show you Iris' great ideas, here's a few more LYB Q&A with Iris!

LYB:      What's your favorite die cutting system?

Iris:        Sizzix!! I need dimension. So if it’s die-cuts it’s got to be with chipboard.

LYB:      Morning bird or night owl?

Iris:       I’m a night and day kinda gal!

LYB:     How long does it typically take you to complete a layout?

Iris:      One to two hours. I’m pretty fast at it because I stick the papers as I go. That way I can’t keep changing my mind.

And now ... here's Iris!

Do you have pictures that have distracting elements in the background? Using Frames are perfect way to hide those imperfections in your photos. Scrapbooking memories isn’t always about having the perfect design or the perfect photos. There is always a way for you to include your special photos (whether it be perfect or not) in your albums.  In this page, I used the Twig frames to eliminate the clutter in my photos.

Nurture mf

The Twig line has so many beautiful embellishments that it is not hard at all to create a page with so many details in so little time. This page took me less than an hour to finish.

Here are a few more close ups from this page!

Nurture d2

Nurture d3

The Twig line is perfect for both masculine and feminine layouts. This page needed little work because the bottom part of the patterned paper already provided a stunning visual element. I simply balanced the design at the bottom with the banner, added a couple of butterflies, some stickers, and it already looked great to me. The doily paper provided the perfect base for my photos.

A Great Day mf

And a few more detail shots...

Want to add some color to the Twig line? Simply mix and match it with other LYB lines like the “Cupcake Love” which I used here. Pretty hard to tell that they are separate lines huh? The Twig line provided the outdoor feel and look to my page, while the cupcake love line added the girly and whimsical look I wanted to achieve.

What a fun day it has been - I just love giving away the prizes! After a week of intense (and extreeeeeeeemely close!) voting, it's time to announce the winner of our Cupcake Love sketch challenge *insert drumroll here* ...

Congratulations Misty Willis!

You're the Winner!

And seriously, congratulations to Robbie and Gretchen as well - those layouts are all just amazing. Let's all give them a hand. No, really. Go ahead and clap. I just did. Really! OK Thank you, and great job ladies! [Please send your mailing information to info@mylyb.com with "Cupcake Love Sketch Challenge Winner" in the subject line and we'll get those prize packs right out to you!]

We had SO much fun seeing your submissions for Cupcake Love, we decided ... what the heck? Let's do it again! And the lovely Liz Qualman was kind enough to whip up another sketch, just for Twig. [Thank you Liz!].

And here's what Liz had to say....

OurLittleMuse_LizQualman

This was such a fun page to create.  I love the earthy colors of the Twig collection.  My family spends a lot of time playing outside and the blues, browns and greens are a wonderful palette to capture these beautiful moments, especially for these photos of my daughter lying in the grass.

We would love to see what you can do with this sketch!  Turn it on its side, flip it over or add embellishments in unique places.  The sky is the limit on how creative you can be....

FebruarySketchLYB_LizQualman

To inspire you a bit more, below are a few details about how I used some of the wonderful products in the Twig collection to make my page extra special.

  OurLittleMuse_LizQualmanclose1

The loose journaling cards are beautifully detailed and perfect for capturing your thoughts.  I used the prompts on the card to respond about my daughter and I really appreciate how the jouranling cards encourage you to use your own handwriting.  Then, I dressed it up with a Flower Button Dot and a Glittered Chipboard Leaf.

OurLittleMuse_LizQualmanclose3

I just adore the Dimensional Stickers with Glitter Accents, because the butterflies are absolutely gorgeous and add so much movement and texture to a project.  I simply inked the edges and added some Jewel Stickers for the body.  The Mini Banners also add just the right amount of fun to a page and I love how they are already pop-dotted and ready to go.

OurLittleMuse_LizQualmanclose4

Twine seems to be the perfect compliment to the Twig collection.  I wrapped some around my photos a few times and used one of the Chipboard Buttons as a clasp. Isn't it adorable how the design of the buttons are the growth rings from a tree?

So here are the rules:

-  Use Liz's sketch as your guideline. Feel free to make it your own, flip it, stand it on its head, have fun!

-  Please submit your layouts to "contest@mylyb.com" or post on LYB's Facebook Wall.

-  Contest runs from now until February 28th.

-  Submissions should be 75% from the Twig collection - OR - you may choose another LYB collection.

-  Liz will choose three finalists (two from Twig submissions, one from all others) on 2/28/11. Each of the finalists will win a $25 prize pack from the Elizabeth Park collection.

-  You'll get to vote for your favorite from among the three finalists. The grand prize winner, who receives the most votes based on your voting on our blog and Facebook page, will win a $50 prize pack!

Have fun!

Well this post was supposed to go up two days ago, but a "little" snowstorm had other ideas! After five canceled flights and a few re-routes, I lost my USB cable and couldn't download the pics! I'm pleased to report that our LYB Connecticut, Chicago, and Colorado contingents all made it home safely (though I'm still trying to figure out how I left LA a day before Ross and he got back to CT 3 hours before me, LOL!). Unpacked and unruffled, (and USB cable found), I can finally share with you the last of our CHA booth pics.

Love this little Tiny Princess card:

And another:

An envelope album! Notice these albums are a little shorter in length than the envies from some of our previous collections:

And one final peek at Baby Saurus ... remember the full CHA reveal post - when I said the picture didn't do these little felt dino-guys justice? Now you can see what I mean. Aren't they dino-licious???

Now real close up!

And one more before I go (because I love these little guys SO much!)

CHA was so much fun, but MAN it's good to be HOME!

Preparing Class kits ...

And of course, we'll be bringing lots and lots of LYB tote bags!

and crossing our fingers and toes hoping that this next round of snow doesn't prevent us - not to mention all of our boxes of goodies - from getting to LA in time for CHA Winter! Still, amidst all of the craziness, I sometimes stop and pinch myself and think "how lucky am I?" that I get to play with these collections and all their yumminess!

And so, without further ado, I present (*dun da da daaaa*)

LYB's CHA Winter collections!!!!

Twig

First, there's Twig! As the sticker says ... "Living life on a limb." This collection is all about a celebration of the loveliness that surrounds us every day. Whether you're communing with nature or just appreciating one of life's everyday moments, there's something for you in Twig. You can see the complete collection here on the LYB website, but here are a few of our favorites!

One of my favorites in our new collections are these butterflies. They'll add dimension and glitter to your projects - and they're just so much fun! You'll also see butterflies fluttering about in the Elizabeth Park collection... lucky you!

Next ... the cardstock. There are six, double-sided, textured pieces in this collection. Here's just one example (it's called Woods/Pleased Plaid). Trust me, you'll want to pick up at least two of each!):

Twig Paper Woods_Pleased Plaid

Fresh Verse stickers (with thermography for added texture and dimension) are a part of every LYB collection, but I just love these! [Feel free to click on the image to take a closer look!]

Twig Fresh Verse

And OMG feathers! Perfectly coordinated and sure to tickle your fancy!

And one more little share. Our talented friend Karen Grunberg sent us several great projects she created with Twig. We'll be showing more of them after CHA, but here's one. You can follow Karen's blog here: www.karenika.com.

Promise_me

Don't forget to view the entire Twig collection on the LYB website! Oh and one more great thing about Twig ... it's in stores NOW!!! Ask for it at your LSS or find it in your favorite online store!

Elizabeth Park

Inspired by flowers, and birds and music on a warm spring day, the Elizabeth Park collection positively sings with happiness! Beautifully blended with a little bit of something for everyone - from flowers and birds to gardening themes, family and love!

Let's start with the Elizabeth Park butterflies I mentioned earlier (be still my fluttering heart!):

The collection includes six pieces of double-sided, textured cardstock, plus Chipboard stickers ...

And here's a close-up of the Paper Flower Kit Sharon mentioned in her previous post:

Elizabeth Park will be in stores in February. Make sure to see the whole Elizabeth Park collection here on the LYB website!

Baby Saurus

When my son was three, he knew the name of every dinosaur who ever roamed the prehistoric planet (and therefore so did I ... really ... you can quiz me). Seriously what little boy doesn't love the dinos? Maybe that's why I love the Baby Saurus collection so much!

Let's start with the cardstock. Six double-sided 12 X 12 textured cardstocks plus specialty cardstocks. Love this little "Dinos All Over" cardstock:

Baby Saurus Paper Dinos all over

And the Dino Dots!

Baby Saurus paper Dino Dots

These 12 month cards are included with both collections and make it super easy to journal those special events and milestones of baby's first year!

And my personal favorite from the collection are these layered felt ribbon dinos!

Baby Saurus Dino Felt

[The picture truly doesn't do these cuties justice!] Here's one more project. Wouldn't this little banner look dino-tastic hanging in a little boy's room?

Check out the Gallery on LYB's website for more project ideas!

Tiny Princess

What's not to love about the Tiny Princess collection? It's full of little girl delights for your tiny princess! All pink and purple and sparkly whimsical! We begin with six sheets of double-sided textured cardstock, plus this darling decorative edge cardstock with glitter (be sure to also see the 6X6 sizes)!

Tiny Princess Decorative Edge Paper

Didn't you just love the princess with the handmade dress Sharon showed us yesterday? She created it with the little princess from the Favorite Pieces (shown below) plus a piece from the collection's crepe paper lace stickers! [Don't you also love that cutie cute little lineup of birdies?]

Don't miss the glitter and jewels on the Tiny Princess Chipboard Embellishments...

And every princess has a little bit of bling!

One of the new features of each of our CHA Winter collections are the "5 Things" pockets. A new take on our very popular "10 Things" title pockets, these are actully 5 separate envelopes with their own journaling sheet. And you can mix or match the things you love with individual stickers! You can see this fun new embellishment in this page done by Greta Hammond (and guess what ... it's not just for babies! this layout works for any little girl)!

Oh and I almost forgot this adorable chipboard spinner! The perfect embellishment - no matter what the theme!

Tiny Princess Spiner

There's so much more to show from this wonderful collection, but I must move on! Be sure to see the rest here, on LYB's website! And watch for Baby Saurus and Tiny Princess at your LSS in mid-April!

Sweet Summertime

Here in Connecticut it is snowing again, and we are on the brink of breaking the record for the most snow in a single month ever in recorded history. Do you think we need a little Sweet Summertime? Just thinking about this collection warms me up! Bright beach blanket colors, tangy lemons, juicy watermelons and my very favorite...fireflies...fills this collection with SUMMER FUN!

Here is one of my favorite papers from the collection:

Sweet Summertime Diagonal Stripes

See what I mean? This collection also features six double-sided, textured 12 X 12 papers, as well as this adorable glittery firefly paper! Practically glows like a firefly's tail!

The collection includes this sweet chipboard banner album:

... and these coordinating papers and pieces- pre-cut to fit perfectly!

Hello,

I'm sitting in my office, looking out the window at all of the beautiful snow coming down.  My kids built a huge fort yesterday. I'm thankful for this.  It was a little thing..but I am glad they were able to play together.

I am so excited to be sharing Twig with you.  I think you might just fall in love.

Living life on a limb is the theme of Twig. Serendipitous discoveries along the way helped bring this collection together. Little touches of vintage. A warm mingling of blues, greens and browns. Irresitable finds from nature.  There are many inspired pieces in this collection that will give you opportunity to find the MUCHNESS in life.

Here's a sneak peek of a few of my favorite pieces...Chipboard Stickers. Yes.  The chipboard charms hang from the branch by little pieces of jute.TW-165

Here is another one of my favorite skus.  I chose to share this piece with you so you can see a sampling of the irresitable patterns within the collection.  This is Twig's envelope album.  Plan now to fill these envelopes with some of your favorite findings this spring. There is room for sticks, feathers, notes.  Lot of things.

TW-306

And, a favorite among many...Canvas borders. TW-201

Other favorites to look for:   CORRUGATED SHAPES, DIMENSIONAL POP UP BUTTERFLIES, LAYERED FLOWER BUTTONS.

OPPORTUNITY TO WIN. OPPORTUNITY TO WIN. OPPORTUNITY TO WIN. OPPORTUNITY TO WIN.

Please comment and let me know what you might do with this envelope album and the other embellishments featured in this post. I'll choose three of you to WIN a nice little package filled with Twig goodies the week of CHA.  Make sure you include your address.

As the snow continues to fall, let Twig invite you to enter into a world of curiosity and creativity.

The little evidences of spring will be here before we know it...

Happy New Year.

Lori
