What do you have in your pocket today? Little Yellow Bicycle includes really fun pockets in most of our collections. We challenged our Design Team to include some of our pockets in their projects and we are pretty excited about what they came up with...
The Escape Collection Layout by Jen Chesnick
Sometimes you have to think outside of the box with your supplies. I am huge fan of pockets and tags, but the 5 things for the Escape line just didn't fit my page. I chose to alter the pocket by cutting the back down and using it as my major embellishment to tuck little bits into. I used the extra flag to weigh down my title.
Jen included our 5 Things Pocket from The Escape Collection. This is what it looked like before you altered it to fit in with her project idea.

Pocket Gift Card Holder by Suzanne Sergi
I decided to use these pockets in a different way than they are intended. I thought they were perfect for tucking in gift cards to a special person. I layered the Just Because journaling pocket onto two pieces of vellum that I stitched together. There is an opening at the top. Another way to enclose a card, or special treat. I also stitched along the journaling pocket to add a homemade touch.
I love the Burlap flowers, and use a large one that I used to embellish
the pocket. I also pulled out the scallop canvas circles to layer
chipboard hearts on top of them. First I stamped the canvas circles to
dress them up a bit. I also pulled out one of the new stamps, to include
my sentiment along the bottom.

Pocket Gift Card Holder by Suzanne Sergi
I pulled out my Making the Grade 6x6 paper pad, and journaling pocket for this next gift card idea. Here I dressed up this cute notebook paper bag, to layer the pocket onto. This time I embellished the inside of the pocket with the fun alphabet pattern found in the 6x6 paper pad.
Tucked in some tickets from the Tear Out Ticket & Journaling Card Book. I used one of the pinwheels, and embellished with a circle that I embossed. Also found in the papercrafting kit with this collection. I dressed this bag a bit more using the chipboard banner, and the adorable fabric owl. I finished the edge of the bag with a red stitch, and using a punch, punched the edges to give that torn look of paper. Now you have a gift bag, with two different options of tucking in special items to one very lucky person!

I often love elements from the Little Yellow Bicycle themed lines but want to use them for pages or projects that are not related to a particular theme. In this case I mixed a little Makin' the Grade with The Escape. I love these lines and the colors actually work well together. I mixed papers and stickers and pulled together a layout in less than an hour.
I love the cork elements from Makin' the Grade and they were just begging to be altered!
We are so pleased to share that we are expanding our full-time design team just a bit and have invited talented designer and long-time fan Lisa Swift to join our gang of Biker Chicks. We are very happy to share another wonderful Escape project today from Cycling Team Member Kim Arnold. She sends us this amazing project all the way from Australia, but let's have Kim tell you all about it...
This is my second layout using the Escape range and I decided to show the flexibility of the range by creating a non-travel themed layout. I love the die-cut paper with its pre-printed bunting flags and it was just perfect for this layout of my son and godson pretending to be statues on an old plinth that we came across.
I also drew inspiration from the gorgeous spinner chipboard sticker. I followed a similar process to create this layout as with my first layout (Paris and Rome). When working with a range like Escape, with so many co-ordinating embellishments available, it is easy to create clusters of interesting embellishments to balance out the photo cluster. I really like the recent trend of washi tape, and used the vellum strips to create my own “washi tape”. The strips tore easily and worked perfectly.
Please visit Kim's blog Time with Us to see more of her inspiring work. Tomorrow we will have more Makin' the Grade project ideas from our Biker Chicks.
Happy Tuesday!

Cycling Team Member Kim Arnold share an Escape page with us today. We love how many photos Kim incorporated on her page without making it look too busy and still use so many fun elements from our Escape collection, but let's have Kim tell you all about it...
I had so many ideas for projects with the Escape range – staycation, overseas holiday, or recent roadtrip ... even non holiday projects such as beach photos and family snapshots. This range is just so flexible with it bright happy colour palette and huge range of embellishments. I ended up choosing to do a layout with a selection of favourite photos from my hubby and my recent trip to Paris and Rome.
The whole layout started when I decided that I wanted to use the “a trip to remember” chipboard piece. I then began laying down a selection of photos into a collage design, incorporating in an assortment of various embellishments that enhanced the theme of my layout. I loved the orange frame and used it to create a focal photo. I just play around with the various elements until I end up with a design that is balanced and pleasing to the eye. I always make sure there is somewhere for the title and the journaling, then, I snap a photo with my phone and remove everything before starting to stick everything down. I use foam tape to attach some of the embellishments so the layout has more dimension.
Once I have those bits and pieces attached, I add any extra elements to finish the layout off. In this instance, I thought it needed some more green, so I added the little paper strips at the top and bottom, and more grey, so I added the diecut behind the journaling element. I also added the twine bow to provide a softer element.
I love what the other girls on the Escape Cycling Team have done with this great range. Thanks Little Yellow Bicycle for having me as part of the team!
Please visit Kim's blog Time With Us for more inspiration and fun ideas from her.
We will be back tomorrow with more Biker Chick inspiration from our Makin' the Grade collection.

Cycling Team member Latrice Murphy has a wonderful project to share today with our Escape Collection. Let's have her tell you all about it...
Hey there Little Yellow Bicycle lovers. I’m so very excited to be here with you today sharing my love for the Escape collection from LYB. This collection is so full of color and they always have the best embellishment collection ever. It’s really a very versatile collection. Today I’ve created two projects for you. First up is a mini album using the Canvas covered chipboard album and a little of everything from the collection. I wanted to make it even more unique to my style so I mixed shaped a little vellum. I printed a couple photo directly on vellum and made confetti pouches with some as well. I then used some left overs from the collection to make a quick and easy card.
*Tips* I use both Mod Podge and dry adhesive to secure my paper to the chipboard album pieces. The Mod Podge is put around the edges for a nice clean edge.
To create a quick colored background on the canvas cover and back I used Studio Calico Mists and Mod Podged the patterned paper to it.
Since mini albums will be picked up and touched a lot I add dots of Glossy Accents behind each piece of embellishments. This holds them in place very well. I even put it on the 3D adhesive and let it set before working on the page more.
Also from the items LYB sent me I created a quick card. I love creating cards with my project leftovers. No need to be a stamper to do this. Here are the steps I took to make my card.
1. Make card from cardstock
2. Adhere patterned paper to card front.
3. Choose a coordinating cardstock (I used the “b” side of the cloud paper) and add vellum tape to it. Adhere to bottom of card.
4. Choose a canvas embellishment and add to card. I then layered a felt cloud, ticket and acetate piece to finish.
5. *optional* Add two straight lines of stitching to the top and bottom of the card to finish it off.
It’s that easy. Five steps! This card will go to a new graduate or someone starting a new job. I can’t wait to send it off to someone.
Thanks so much to LYB for letting me share on the blog today. I hope to do it again. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to design for. Thanks so much and don’t forget to leave me some comment love and to visit me at my blog Any Occasion where I share everything from Layouts to recipes!
Also Do you follow LYB on Facebook? If not you should!
Xo, Latrice
We are always so pleased with the projects from our Cycling Team Members. Please visit Latrice Murphy's blog Any Occasion for more photos of her album and more ideas.

We have long admired the work of LYB fan Beth Hallgren and were so happy when she applied to be a cycling team member. Her designs never disappoint and we love how she uses our papers and embellishments and especially today with our Escape Collection. Let's have Beth tell you a little more about her projects...
Bright cheery colors are right up my alley, so I fell in love with The Escape collection instantly! We rarely travel but when we do it's always to sunny Florida. My In-laws have a home there and we can find so much to do.
My first layout features the "Fun-O-Meter", it was perfect for these photos of my family taking a break at Marie Selby Gardens in Sarasota Florida. In typical fashion, they were not cooperating, hence the title Not Bad.
I love to layer and it was heaven to have so many embellishments to work with! The decorative edged cardstock made a great base (I chose to ignore the banners at the bottom) then layered the sunny yellow cardstock on top and topped it off with some stitching.
I think I added a litttle of everything in this collection to my page! The 6x6 decorative edged cardstock, banners and flowers from the paper crafting kit, a ticket, flag, stick pin, clearcuts, felt camera and finished with a sticker!
My second layout features some photos I took of my kids when we visited Busch Gardens on a previous vacation.
The red canvas and layered sticker cars were the perfect embellishments to accent the red Range Rover.
The canvas Off We Go banner made a serendipitous title. I'm enamored with rosettes right now so I was thrilled with the paper crafting kit. I made an additional rosette, whitewashed it with paint and added the 3D sticker to top it off. The border and vellum stickers helped balance out the layout.
My final project is an altered picture frame. I really wanted to accent one of our family photos, since there are so few of them and ever fewer with me in them! The layered mat attracted me to this frame.
I was able to create so much dimension with the chipboard and clear cuts! I used the vellum border to ground my cluster of chipboard, felt and stickers.
I hope you feel inspired to create your own projects with The Escape collection and thank you for stopping by to see mine! A big thank you to Little Yellow Bicycle for choosing me to be on The Escape Cycling Team!
Please visit Beth's blog Positively Passionate About... for more of her wonderful work.
Also we are looking for Cycling Team Members for our Makin' the Grade Team. Please the post from yesterday for more details.
Happy Weekend!

Hello all! It's DAY 3 of our Blog Swap week with Epiphany Crafts, and today Biker Chick Vicki Boutin is joining us with a fun layout featuring Little Yellow Bicycle's The Escape collection!
Here's Vicki to tell you about her layout!
I have been a fan of Epiphany Crafts for awhile now and I was excited to be a part of this product swap!! I used the Ephiphany Crafts Shape Studio Star tool and Shape Studio Bubble Cap Stars along with LYB's The Escape line to create some fun embellishments on a layout!!
Instead of using paper with the Shape studio tool and epoxy shapes I layered the vellum tape strips!! A little tip...you may need a dab of glue on the adhesive side of the stars with the vellum tapes.
I love how the stars turned out!!! Such a great little tool! Hope you give this idea a try.
Thanks for another awesome layout Vicki! Be sure to visit Vicki's blog for fun and inspiration.
Now head on over to the Epiphany Crafts Blog for more projects from their team ... and leave a comment here, there, everywhere for a chance to win some great prizes!
(And don't forget about our Facebook Page challenge ... if we hit 9,000 fans this week, we're giving away more prizes!

Now enough about the prizes ... let's get to today's project - from Biker Chick Corrie Jones!
Corrie created this adorable canvas to hang on her daughter's bedroom door. Corrie says "She wants to give her room a beachy theme and she LOVED the Splash collection, so this was created for her."
I love how Corrie used the Shape Studio Tool Round 14
to create contrasting embellishment bubbles, AND she used the Bubble Caps Accessories to create clear bubbles. So clever Corrie!
Here are some close ups:

We have one more fantastic project to share from The Escape guest designer Kathy Martin. We have been so please with all of her fantastic ideas and today is no exception.
LYB: Do you have a favorite die cutting system?
KM: I can’t pick just one! I have the Silhouette, Wizzard, Big Shot, the old Sizzix and Quickutz squeeze. I’ve used all of them within the past couple days so it’s really hard to pick a favorite. I think I use my Wizzard more.
LYB: Computer or handwritten journaling?
KM: Without question, computer journaling! I suffer ‘stage’ fright if I try to write on my pages. I always goof up.
LYB: What’s the oddest embellishment you’ve ever used on a page?
KM: Sand. I created a beach page using sand. And a few tiny shells.
Kathy used some of the most adorable elements of The Escape collection to create this super cute card. the buildings in the background are perfect for the sentiment. And...the stitching is absolutely perfect and gives the card a homemade element.
Kathy included the Flag Kit and the some Clear Cut Shapes on this creative card. We love how the sentiment from the Tear Out Ticket takes center stage.
Please visit Kathy's blog Card Blanc for more of her fabulous ideas.
Don't forget we are looking for cycling team members for our Makin' the Grade collection. See post with details HERE. Have a wonderful and crafty weekend!

We are very happy to share some Escape projects from Cycling Team Member Regina Mangum. But let's have her tell you all about it...
Our family enjoys traveling, as do many of our friends, so I was thrilled to get to create with The Escape Collection
The collection is chock-full of happy, bright embellishments, but when I saw the little red bus included with the Escape Chipboard Shapes, I just about fell over! My little boy rode a little red school bus all summer for camp and I was wracking my head about how I was going to scrap his adventures. This is how this collection inspired me:
I started with the bus and built a little scene around it--using all the wonderful Chipboard, Fabric, Felt, Cardstock, and Dimensional Stickers--reminiscent of a city street.
Next, I combined a Chipboard Shape of the sun with a Fabric Sticker to make this fun sun and added some chipboard clouds, as well.
I hand-cut a "road," which I stitched road lines into with some baker's twine. I didn't have a lot of photos as I didn't accompany him on his outings, but I did have two of my son that I managed to sneak in when his teachers weren't looking! Now, what to do with them? I thought they would make a cute freeway sign and lucky for me the paper in the perfect shade of green was in the 6" x 6" paper pad!
I adore the 12" x !2" Decorative Edge Textured Cardstock that looks like one huge postage stamp and I used it as my base. As it turned out, the unusual shape was just perfect for me to create a pocket for all the newsletters we were sent that did include photos from my little guy's trips around the city.
(I did this by using long strips of foam tape on three sides between a layer of cardstock and the postage stamp patterned paper layer.)
One of my best friends and her family are taking a special vacation this summer and I wanted to create a gift for her to help remember all the fun times they are sure to have. I created this little card and photo holder set to wish her bon voyage.
The card I made was one I thought she could use to send while she was away. I used paper from the 6" x 6" Paper Pad, which is sized so great for cards. I added the darling Eiffel Tower and sweet bird stickers. I love when stickers double as sentiments and the cardstock pennant I chose was just what I needed.
I first used an electronic die-cutting machine to cut out the photo holder from the bright, vibrant Textured Cardstock from the collection. I love the little cameras on the 12" x 12" paper, which fit perfectly with my theme. Then, it was easy to decorate the box (both sides!) using the Chipboard, Fabric, and Dimensional Stickers, as well as the adorable Chipboard Shapes.
Once she's home and develops her photos, she can store them right inside the box.
Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my Escape projects -- I hope I inspired you to escape away and create with such a fun collection! Thank you, too, to Little Yellow Bicycle, for having me along for the 'ride!'
Please visit Regina's blog The Stampin' Bean for more fun ideas!
Happy Tuesday!

We have some more great ideas to share from our Escape Collection Guest Designer Kathy Martin. We have been getting to know her over the past couple of weeks and we have a few more question and answers to share.
LYB: Are you a neat scrapbooker or is your space a mess?
KM: I’m fairly neat and organized, but I do whip up big messes. I keep the mess under control by cleaning up after most projects.
LYB: How long does it typically take you to complete a layout?
KM: Forever! Well maybe not forever, but it takes a long time. As I mentioned above, I don’t plan out my pages or use a sketch, I like to play around and wing it as I go which can take a while.
LYB: What are your favorite scrapbook magazines?
KM: I love them all! I haven’t met a scrapbooking magazine that I didn’t devour from cover-to-cover!
We are in love with how Kathy incorporated our Flag and Paper Flower Kits on this amazing layout. Even though she used a lot of the product, she did it in such a way that it still looks simple and clean.
Kathy always has fun things going on at her blog Card-Blanc, so please stop by for a visit and more inspiration from her. We will be back next week with her final project.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Biker Chick Jenny Chesnick has been listening to our fans and has a great two page project to share with our Escape Collection. Check out some of her tips below...
On National Scrapbooking Day Little Yellow Bicycle asked what projects our readers would like to see. One of the most popular answers was double page layouts. I think this may be my fifth ever double page spread! For some reason two pagers really intimidate me. So for this spread I decided to look at it as an expanded one pager. I created the one page feel by splitting the die-cut paper in the center of the layout. I then used a 4 inch strip across the two pages to connect them and line my photos. I tucked the smaller decorative edge paper underneath that strip to make it seem longer and add in another color. When I look at the layouts it almost looks like it could be two pages separate. I guess in my mind that made it easier for me to place my titles and embellishments. What are you tips for the perfect two pager? I would love to hear your ideas!

We have some fantastic Escape projects to share today from Cycling Team Member Juliana Michaels who returns for a 2nd ride with us. You probably remember her wonderful projects with our Hello Spring! collection. But let's have Juliana tell you all about it...
When I saw The Escape Collection, I immediately knew at least one project that was definitely on my to do list. I had recently gone on a weekend trip with my niece and parents, and of course I had taken a few photos. What better way to remember this time together than with a mini album? I wanted to create a mini album for my niece using photos from the trip.
The LYB Canvas Covered Chipboard Album was prefect for this. I had all of my pictures printed wallet size to give me some room to decorate and embellish each page. I used the 6 x 6 paper pad for all of the patterned papers and embellished it with various stickers, journaling and chipboard pieces.
When I create a mini album, I like to keep the design elements similar from page to page. This makes it easier to design and put together. For each page I used one piece of 6 x 6 patterned paper for the background. I then cut another pattern 4.5 x 5 inches and layered that on the background paper. I then used the 1.5 x 6 inch scraps to create the banner strips.
When I give her the album next weekend, we are going to sit down and fill out the 5 Things Pocket piece and add other journaling to the album to personalize it a bit more just for her!
My husband and I enjoy traveling and would love to do more of it. Our dream is to go to Italy together. We have both been, but not together. To help us stay focused on our goal, I create a travel change jar for us to put in our extra change or what ever money we want to help us save up for our next vacation, where ever it might be!
I created it using an empty and washed peanut butter jar. I glued a strip of patterned paper around the center and then embellished it with pieces from the Chipboard Shapes. To attached them to a rounded surface, I first bent and rounded them a little to that shape. I then adhered them using a glue gun.
I also used the Vellum Tape Strips and Cardstock Stickers. I am especially loving the Vellum Tape Strips! I dressed up the lid with a fun flower from the Paper Crafting Kit. Once it was finished, I added some change and our travel change jar is on its way to helping us save for our next vacation or trip!
Please see Juliana's blog 17 Turtles for more inspiring ideas and details from her. We are so appreciative of all of the amazing ideas from our Cycling Team, Guest Designers and Biker Chicks. I am going to start a change jar this week!
Happy Tuesday!

We have another project to share from Escape Guest Designer Kathy Martin and some more fun questions and and answers about what she thinks about scrapbooking, but let's have her tell you all about it...
LYB: What kind of music gets you in the scrappin’ mood?
KM: Rock and roll. There’s something about the beat that pumps me up.
LYB: Are you a morning bird or night owl?
KM: I’m up with the birds. I like to check my e-mail, blog, Facebook and Pinterest while I drink my coffee and I usually have that done before anyone else gets up!
LYB: Do you have a favorite quote?
KM: I do have a favorite quote that’s always posted on my blog. “Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. By Robert Brault.
Kathy made this wonderful page with our Escape collection. We really love how she incorproated so many of our journal elements and die cuts, not to mention our flag kit.
It's really fun how Kathy layered the clouds under the flags. What a great element to make them jump off the page a bit more.
The stitching on the page is really beautiful and gives it a little more homespun feel.
We will have more inspiring projects from Kathy to share, so stay tuned. You can also visit her blog Card-Blanc for more ideas.
Have a wonderful weekend!

We are so pleased to introduce our newest wearers of the Yellow Jersey. We have had so much enthusiasm for Little Yellow Bicycle and were very pleased with all of the application we received and it was very difficult to choose. We said we would choose between 3-5 cycling team members per collection, so riding with us for our Escape Cycling Team will be the following talented and inspiring designers. Please click on their names to see their blogs and get to know them a little bit more.
Juliana Michaels (returning member)
We also wanted to let you know that we invited designers Lisa Swift and Tamara Tripodi to continue to ride with us on our Splash Cycling Team, so watch for their beautiful work this month, while our Escape Cycling Team prepares their projects.
BUT WAIT - there's more... Little Yellow Bicycle is releasing 4 new collections at CHA Summer. AND...we will need a cycling team for each and every collection! Since, each collection has a personality of its own, we are looking for designers whose style will showcase the collection. In other words, if you were/are interested in being a cycling team member look for future calls and if your style suits the collection, we want you to come ride with us!
Please stay tuned... Makin' the Grade, our new school collection, is releasing soon! Below is a little sneak peek...
Happy Monday!

We are so excited to announce that our newest collection The Escape will be shipping next week. Our Splash collection has been well-received and we think The Escape will be just as popular and compliments Splash perfectly.
Last summer, my family and I visited the Aquarium in Baltimore and this photo was taken there. Being from Colorado, Baltimore seems like a "big city" to us, so the Clear Cut Shape sentiment was perfect. We had so much fun on our trip that we had to measure with the Fun-O-Meter Chipboard Spinner. I love the bright colors in this collection and how wonderfully they compliment this family photo.
Biker Chick Vicki Boutin made this clever mini album from the Tear Out Tickets that come with this collection. What a fantastic idea for a little reminder about all of experiences on her trip. It also makes an affordable option to buying a chipboard album and then embellishing , because many of the tags are already decorated and need minimal embellishment.
We'll have more Splash and Escape projects to share in the coming weeks, so stay tuned...
Have a wonderful, sunny and memory filled weekend!

Come Ride with Us!
We are looking for designers to showcase our The Escape Collection.
Here's what we're looking for:
With each new collection we like to invite a few new designers (about 3-5 per collection) to come design for us. We ask Cycling Team members to commit to a month of designing after the collection is released. In return, we'll send you some free product and shamelessly promote you along with ourselves on our blog and facebook page. Read the details below:
1) Make at least one project with what we send you - a layout, some cards, a mini album, an altered item...whatever makes you happy!
2) Send us some pictures of it, and a little write-up or how-to of how you created it.
3) Post it on your blog, facebook page and any online galleries you belong to. We'll put it here on our blog too, of course!
That's it!
Tryouts for this team are starting RIGHT NOW!
If you are interested, please send us three (3) samples of your best work (preferably with LYB products because that is what we like to look at most, however it's not a deal breaker if you send something else) to cyclingteam@cthruruler.com. Also, if you have previously designed for a Cycling Team, please feel free to apply again! Please send us your application by Saturday, June 30th and we'll announce the NEW Escape Cycling Team on Monday, July 2nd. Please also include your contact information (address, phone and blog) in your email.
And then we'll ask you to hop on that Little Yellow Bicycle and pedal your heart out!
Hope to hear from you!
