We love how Melissa changed around the sketch and added the same little Valentine icon that was part of her son's card on the actual layout. Now the handmade cards are documented forever.

We love how Lisa chose The Escape collection to document these great travel/outing photos. AND we especially love how she translated the sketch into another collection and the content of her photos.

We love the photos that Melisa Alzammar chose for her layout that follows the sketch pretty closely, but takes on a personality of its own with the photos.

We are so pleased to introduce our Just Because Guest Designer Piradee Talvanna who comes to us all the way from Singapore. We thought this collection would be a perfect fit for Piradee's more "grown up" style. Let's get to know her a bit and then she can tell you all about her project...
LYB: Are you a morning bird or night owl?
PT: I’m so a night owl and it’s in the evening that I mostly get my scrapping done. I would be procrastinating the entire day only to start around 5pm.
LYB: Do you have a favorite die cutting system?
PT: That would definitely be my silhouette machine. I remember that it was sitting in the box for about 6/7 months before I first used it and since then, there’s a little bit of silhouette action for all my layouts/projects.
LYB: Computer or handwritten journaling?
PT: It used to be handwritten journaling, but now its typewriter typed. Yeap, with over 10 typewriters in my collection, I got to put them to some good use somehow.
I am thrilled to be sharing some Just Because projects this month. I just adore this sweet collection – the mix of the dark pink and turquoise against the navy and also loving the pops of silver throughout the collection.
For my first project, I used the fun sketch from this month’s challenge and opted to create an 8.5”x11” layout instead. I kept to the base design of the sketch but switched to one photo (unfortunately less space to play with) and also moved the scallop border to the center.
I also included some of the awesome transparency and chipboard embellishments; loving especially the ones with the silver and even added more silver to the layout with sequins (I’m currently addicted to all things metallic and sequins).
And of course, more silver here too… (how awesome are those transparency flower die cuts, the petals are transparent and the middle has a lovely coat of silver).
For my title, I used the silhouette machine to cut out the “heart” this (die cut file from studio calico) and for the journaling I used various sticker elements (and of course, more silver here too).

It's been a while... we know. But, we want to give our fans an opportunity to play along with us this month. So how about a sketch challenge with a BIG prize for a few winners? This page came together pretty quickly. I have to admit that I was tempted to use one large 5x7 photo of my kids and call it good, but I love all of the pages I've been seeing with wallet-sized photos. So, I compromised and used the same photo (in a wallet-size) three times to make the same impact with a litte more flair. This picture of my kids really warms my heart, so I probably could have used it six times or more, but I tried some self-restraint - LOL
Have you checked out our new Naturals collection??? It is a must have and I am not just saying that because I work for Little Yellow Bicycle. I would buy these gorgeous embellishments regardless. Look how this burlap heart totally fits in with the bright Just Because color scheme, but adds a little natural texture. I just LOVE it!!! And check out the other hearts you get in the package with this one... could have used any of them on this page.
Can you even stand another minute without these Naturals blue canvas letters that remind me of denim? They were such a fun element to add to my page. Not to mention that they come in other colors...

Ready for another sketch challenge? We can't rightly wrap up that last challenge without starting a new one. We mentioned that Little Yellow Bicycle had some exciting things in store for 2012 and one of the things we are committed to is some kind of challenge to keep our fans busy each month. We know a lot of people like to use sketches, but it would be awesome if you could tell us if there are other challenges you would like to participate in? Just leave us a quick comment with some ideas and we will start thinking about how to make it happen.
With many of our collections, we include Tear Out Ticket journaling cards, which is one of the focal elements on this sketch, but we also love to see how our fans use our paper flower kits. Each of our examples include some of those elements with a few special twists on Little Yellow Bicycle products.
I love how the Saturdays collection can easily be used for either gender, but I keep channeling masculine pages. I just love the pops of red in this collection and how it is grounded in blues and browns, which I think are perfect for stuff that guys like to do. This is my husband and our son hiking, and then a smaller picture of our campsite. I also happen to be enthralled with velvet embroidery floss, because the texture is so rich and soft. But wait...look at how Cycling Team Member Robbie Herring interpreted the sketch with a very feminine page using our Saturdays collection. She combined both our paper flower kit with our felt flowers for a really beautiful and eye catching page! Love how Robbie dressed up her banners with a bit of baker's twine. Cycling Team Member Kristine Berc really pushed the boundaries of the sketch using our Paradise collection. Instead of the stitched border, she incorporated a "homemade" die cut paper and then concentrated the paper flowers in one area on her layout. She also added one of the smaller Tear Out Tickets on her page. Please visit Kristine's blog A Stash of Pretty Paper for more details.
Cycling Team Member Heather Leopard also used our Paradise collection to make her version of the sketch. She incorporated a number of the Tear Out Tickets on her page and then used our paper flowers to make her own prize ribbon. What a clever idea! We have a new sketch for you to work with this month. I think when I made this sketch, I had paper flower kits on my brain and I was thinking it would be fun to add more photos along with some fun elements like clear cut or chipboard shapes. Hope you will play along this month! Please see the details and contest rules at the bottom of this post.
Below is my version of the sketch, which I followed pretty closely.
This is the BRAND NEW Paradise collection that is being shipped to stores as I type. In fact I think a few Local Scrapbook stores already have it on their shelves! This is such a fun collection with a great color palette and embellishment choices. For this page I tried to keep it simple with three patterned papers, Tear Out Ticket Book, Favorite Pieces, Fresh Verse Stickers, Paper Flower Kit and Jewel Stickers.

I love how the Get Your Game On collection provides four different sports to capture your memories. Even though my son is not old enough to play sports competitively, he still likes to get outside and kick the ball around. It was great to use the soccer papers and embellishments to capture this moment of my son and husband playing together.
I especially like the idea of how you can use the Get Your Game On collection for any sports related memories. Wouldn't it be fun to use the papers and embellishments for a memory about tailgating with the "MVP" being the last person standing (if you know what I mean)? The stars are the limit with this super fun collection. Can't wait to see what some of you create with my sketch!

Hello Friends!
It's that time of year again ... Back-to-School! And you're going to love the new Head of the Class collection from LYB! Packed with primary colors, cool geometric patterns and a teeny bit of grunge - Head of the Class easily accommodates school-themed layouts and projects for students of all ages.
