Before you read this post ... go make yourself a cup of tea!
No really.
Go ahead.
I just did.
Don't worry - I'll still be here when you get back - sippin' away!
Personally I'm a coffee person. Got to have my cuppa joe (or three!) in the morning, but lately I've taken to enjoying a cup of tea every day. I think in our hurry-up world with our too-much-to-do lists, the coffee culture contributes a little extra caffeinated craziness to our everyday rush.
[Think about it ... the very act of placing an order at Starbucks can be stress-inducing to some people ... "I'll have a decaf-non-fat-double-tall-latte-no-foam-no-syrup-extra-hot ... please"!]
On the other hand, a cup of tea says:
"Take a moment. Relax. Enjoy. Appreciate."
Not to mention it's loaded with antioxidants, so it's good for you too. Tea makes you happy. I guess that's why the Maya Road chipboard teapot makes me so happy. For instance, didn't you love how Liz used it on the cover of her album in yesterday's post?
Well guess what? It's back again today! Biker Chick Greta Hammond used it to make a beautiful banner! So scroll down to take a peek, and then at the end of this post, find out how to win Your OWN Maya Road Teapot Chipboard Album - plus a perfect pairing of Little Yellow Bicycle goodies!
Here's Greta!

I’ve always been a big fan of Maya Road and was thrilled to be a part of this Swap! I loved the little Maya Road Teapot Chipboard Album we received and immediately thought of LYB’s Elizabeth Park and a springtime theme. I covered three of the teapot pages and then layered them on top of 6x6 decorative edge papers from the EP line to create the base for this spring banner.
I also used the little tea cups on top of some journaling cards to fit in between the larger pieces.
To embellish, I started with paper doilies for texture and then layered on embellishments including the felt and candy striped blossoms from Maya Road, chipboard, dimensional butterflies and fresh verse stickers from Elizabeth Park.
The combination of products provided some great variety in texture and dimension to the project!
Thank you Maya Road for letting me play with your fabulous product!
Greta

Love it Greta! So pretty!
OK so here's your chance to win...two actually...Leave a comment telling us your favorite project that we've shown so far in the blog swap (...now don't worry about offending anyone...they're all amazing but you're allowed to have a favorite ... or if you can't choose a favorite, tell us which one you're most likely to try to make yourself!). For your second chance to win, leave another comment on our Facebook page too!
Wonderful Maya Road sent us a few extra Teapot Chipboard Albums ... and when I first saw them, I thought of our Savor collection. So leave your comments and on Friday I'll pick TWO random winners (one from the Facebook comments and one from the blog comments) who will win a Teapot Chipboard Album PLUS some fabulous goodies from the Savor collection.
Now go enjoy that cup of tea!
And don't forget to check out Maya Road's blog for their post a little later today!

So much excitement for National Scrapbook Day! So many people were so creative. What a great excuse to take a little time for yourself and soak up all the inspiration. I couldn't believe how many great classes, challenges, and tutorials were available - and most of them for free! I hope many of you took advantage of the Big Picture Classes All-Day Crop and Challenge (and giveaways!)!
And now to follow it up ... Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!
We have TWO special Mother's Day treats for you! First, our very own Sharon Kropp (who is a mother of four herself) was asked to be a guest blogger for Creating Keepsakes' blog today! Sharon made a beautiful layout to share for Mother's Day...and we thought it would be fun to do a little giveaway with Creating Keepsakes! So we put together a big goodie bag, filled with "Mom's Favorites" -- papers and embellishments from some of your favorite collections: Savor, Fresh Print Clothesline and Elizabeth Park (the collection Sharon used for her Mother's Day layout)! It looks a little something like this:
The prize, silly, not the layout (you have to go over to the CK blog to see that!) What a lovely Mother's Day gift for YOU!
And then we thought ... well why let Creating Keepsakes have all the fun? So we decided to give one away too!
So here's how you can win. FIRST, follow the link to hop over to Sharon's blog post at Creating Keepsakes, and follow the instructions for a chance to win. SECOND, leave a comment on THIS blog (or our Facebook page), telling us either (1) Why you love being a mom, or (2) One thing you love about your own mom [or both, if you wish ;) of course].
CK will pick one winner, and we'll pick the other. And don't forget there's still time to enter our National Scrapbook Day giveway by leaving a comment on yesterday's blog!
Winners will be announced Monday! Plus on Monday we'll be back with an all-new Training Reel featuring Biker Chick Liz Qualman and the Tiny Princess collection! The fun and creativity just keeps coming!
Finally, we wish you a very happy, restful, and creative Mother's Day!
OK well it's not quite National Scrapbook Day yet but ... hey ... close enough, right? Plus we have a lot to tell you so we figured we'd better start early.
First up ... two chances to win THIS:
(I know, pretty cool, huh?) In case you can't see too well, it's LOADED (and I mean loaded...I loaded it myself!) with fantastic papers and embellishments from Not ONE but TWO Little Yellow Bicycle collections: Elizabeth Park and Boardwalk! A little something for Spring and a little something for Summer! So here's ONE way you can win:
Post a comment here on the blog or on our Facebook Page telling us ONE THING creative you did for National Scrapbook Day. It can be something you made, photos you took, something you organized ... but it has to be Scrapbooking related!!! (It's National Scrapbook Day, after all!). Better yet...post a photo of that ONE THING on our Facebook Page (or email a photo to peg@cthruruler.com and I'll post it). Cool. You have until Sunday at midnight to make your post - after all, we know you'll be too busy scrapbooking tomorrow and you may not get to it :)
NOW. Chance #2 to win. Head over to our friends at Big Picture Classes. (Did you know we're a partner? More on that later in another blog...) They have an AMAZING 12-hour National Scrapbook Day event planned, full of inspiration, challenges, chats and more! Best of all? It's FREE FREE FREE!!! (Who doesn't love free???!!!) And there are lots of chances to win prizes from lots of manufacturers. Including that bag you saw up there from Little Yellow Bicycle. Follow the link and reserve your (free) spot!! It runs from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. PDT.
Finally, have you gotten your LYB Tote Bag? No? Well ALL DAY Saturday (until midnight EDT), you'll get a FREE LYB tote bag with ANY purchase over at LittleYellowBargains.com. FREE! (One bag per household, while supplies last.) Here's a pic of the tote we're giving away tomorrow:
Don'tcha want one? I know you do. Did I mention it's FREE?!!
(With any purchase Saturday only over at Little Yellow Bargains!)
Now GO! Get in on the freebies!! (And don't forget to leave a comment! We'll announce the winner on Monday!)
Finally ... Happy National Scrapbook Day from your friends at Little Yellow Bicycle. We sincerely thank you for your support. We hope you find a little time for yourself tomorrow to do something creative!
Well ... I know you already saw this lovely layout from Biker Chick Tania Willis ...
....but what I TOTALLY forgot was ... Tania actually sent step-by-step, illustrated instructions and I totally forgot to post them!! So here they are, with apologies to Tania, and apolgies to you!
(Take it away Tania...)

After working on these projects this week, I've rediscovered my love for May Arts ribbons. They are simply irresistible! I have a strong liking for the Green Twill ribbon, in particular, and got all sorts of giddy when I was playing around with how it would look gathered on my layout. Sure, it looks adorable, just flat on the page so you can see the intended pattern, and I already used it that way on the card I shared a few days ago, but take a yard of it along with a long running stitch down the middle and you have what i call perfection! Take a look at the end result here on this layout, then give it a try for yourself! I think it matches beautifully with Elizabeth Park, don't you?

Wow. Love it even more now!
Hello everyone! Sad to say this is our last "official" post of May Arts week (though we will be picking a winner tomorrow, so be sure to post a comment)! Thanks to everyone for your well wishes for Brian. He is doing just fine thanks (and already conniving that since he broke his left arm, and he's a leftie, maybe he will be able to get out of homework for a while). Also, I agree with MANY of you that Renee should start her own blog. Her work is SO amazing and she always makes me laugh! Maybe we can all convince her (as if she doesn't already have enough on her plate!!).
A couple more projects to share with you today!
First up is this beautiful layout created by Biker Chick Tania Willis!
I just love how she added the Elizabeth Park Dimensional Butterfly Stickers and Chipboard Stickers to the Bloom Bands paper to make those butterflies pop, don't you? And the bling and pearls are darling! Top that off with the gathered and stitched May Arts Green Twill Stripe and the doubled up May Arts Orange Stitched ribbons and you have one beautiful layout. Perfect for Tania's adorable daughter Ashlyn, don't you think?
Next I have one more card from Biker Chick Mari Aartun!
Mari distressed the Elizabeth Park Birds on a Wire Paper and mounted it on lavender paper - and just added a few embellishments! So simple but so pretty. I love how she gathered the May Arts Lace Trim! (You can achieve this look either by gathering it on strong adhesive, or better, use a needle and thread to bunch it just the way you want - and then adhere it down.)
Thanks Tania and Mari for our Saturday Shares! You can follow Tania's blog here, and Mari's blog here! (And we will keep working on Renee....)
Be sure to leave a comment for your chance to win some May Arts and Little Yellow Bicycle goodies! We'll be announcing the winner TOMORROW!!!
Hello everyone! Happy May Arts Friday and Happy Royal Wedding Day!! Did YOU get up at 4 AM or earlier to watch the Royal Nuptials? I did. But honestly, I did NOT get tied up in Royal Wedding hype all day, drinking tea and eating scones and wearing hats and just forget to post this blog!!
Allow me to introduce you to Brian:
Brian is my son and he will be 12 next week. My mom says he looks "just like Prince Harry." She has said this since he was two. I always thought she was wrong but I have to say, watching the wedding today, I do finally see a resemblance. But that's not why I'm posting his picture. So besides resembling "the other Prince," Brian is the definition of perpetual motion and I get a call from the school nurse at least once a week for some minor bump, bruise, or blow to the head. But this time, it was the real deal. Brian broke his arm! So I spent most of the day in the emergency room. Brian is fine, but I'm sorry to be late with this post! I know you've been waiting to see our next batch of projects, and truly, these are just so great. So let me get right to them.
Here's Biker Chick Renee Foss to tell you about her lovely creations!

I have a confession to make: I’m a ribbon addict. I love buying it, displaying it, hoarding it—it’s a sickness. That’s why I nearly squealed when I received a big envelope of beautiful, fluffy, colorful ribbon from May Arts to use for this blog collaboration (I did have to wrestle one bit away from my kitty who was also overcome with insanity upon seeing the bounty of ribbon that I received. Milo and I thank you May Arts!).
The first project I did was the layout entitled ‘Must Have Shoes’.
Another confession: I’m not really one to use spring-y or feminine papers so I challenged myself to work with the Elizabeth Park collection for this blog project. Nothing against spring-y, feminine papers: I just tend to gravitate towards more graphic designs and less ‘pink’ palettes. However even I must admit the collection was perfect for this layout, which celebrates a gorgeous pair of spring shoes I purchased as an ‘homage’ to my grandmother who passed away when I was twenty (and those of you who know my true age know that was quite some time ago :P). She would have loved these shoes as much as I do and I will surely think of her every time I tiptoe through the tulips in them (if you must have these shoes too you can find at DSW…yes, I’m an enabler).
I doubled the May Arts Yellow Plaid ribbon and tied across the page, with a bow at the right end. Doubling the ribbon made my bow a bit fuller and have a few more loops to it. I tucked an Elizabeth Park chipboard fence behind the bow, which I further accented with a chipboard butterfly, a few flower stick pins with epoxy sticker centers, some raindot epoxy stickers and a few self-adhesive jewels.
The word ‘shoes’ in the title are sticker letters that have adhesive on both sides, to which I added pink flocking. The Elizabeth Park dimensional butterfly sticker near the title was embellished with Elizabeth Park jewels and a stick pin.
I made the two cards for two of my sisters’ birthdays (sorry girls your cards are going to be late). Both cards use product from the Elizabeth Park collection as well.
The ‘make a wish’ card has a folded piece of one inch Satin-Edged Pink Grosgrain May Arts ribbon across the bottom and I used a Thin Orange Stitched May Arts ribbon for the Elizabeth Park felt ribbon slider flower. I also tied a bit of the orange ribbon into a bow on the flower.
I accented the flower with several stick pins, and inked the edges of the card. The sentiment is a rub on from Deja Views.
The second card uses the paper flower kit from Elizabeth Park.
I layered a large and smaller flower, as well as a flower center. I held all together with a flower brad (not from Elizabeth Parl collection). Then, I made loops with a May Arts Green Stripe Twill ribbon (my favorite out of all the ones I received) and adhered the loops behind the flower for added dimension and interest.
The card is finished with two heart stick pins (from Little Yellow Bicycle's Cupcake Love collection), clear stickers from Deja Views, a few self-stick jewels and inked edges. Hopefully my sisters won’t see this blog before they get their cards!!
A big THANK YOU to the good people at May Arts for sharing some of their ribbon-y goodness with us at LYB!!

I think everyone will agree that these lovely projects from Renee were worth the wait!!! (And indeed, those shoes are MUST HAVES, don't you agree???)
Again sorry for the delay ... but look on the bright side - you get a last reminder to go post a comment under our Wednesday Challenge on Facebook for a chance to win some yummy goodies from May Arts and Little Yellow Bicycle (we're picking a winner later tonight)!!! Be sure to leave some love for Renee (because we do love Renee but also for another chance to win some goodies)!
And then, in case you missed it, hop on over to May Arts' Blog and check out their super cool frame accordion book!
I'll be posting a few more projects from the Biker Chicks tomorrow, and then Sunday we'll pick more lucky prize winners from all your blog comments!
Welcome to Day Four of our Blog Week with May Arts! I am having so much fun seeing what all of these talented Design Team members have created! We hope you're enjoying it too! Be sure to let us know which projects you'll be trying!
First up today is this stunning cardbook from Biker Chick Mari Aartun ... just in time for Mother's Day!
(Hmm, I'm thinking ... wow...Mari is so organized she already has her project made for Mother's Day, but I did a little digging and found out Mother's Day is celebrated in Norway in February! No wonder she's so organized, LOL!)
Here are complete instructions for how to make the cardbook:
You'll need:
2 pieces of white cardstock, size 3.5" X 8"
2 pieces of white cardstock, size 5"X 8"
Score all of them at every inch, see below:
Fold them like an accordian. Start with a short piece (3.5") and a long piece (5") and fold them together. This needs a bit of work to get them to fit nicely. See image below:
Glue only the 4 corners, front and back. See image below.
Keep putting them together until it looks like this:
The frame is now done. Cut a piece of cardstock in the size 5.5" x 12", to make the book cover. Use the frame as measurments for where to put the scoring lines for the "back" of the book. Make sure the scoring lines are as close as possible in size as the height of the frame. Cut the cardstock so that the book looks symetrical. Glue the frame on to the cardstock at the right side.
Now it looks like a book, and it's time to decorate :)
Cut pieces of patterned paper to fit the book cover. Before gluing them on, put the ribbon you are using for closure behind the paper (I used the beautiful pink May Arts Grosgrain/Satin Edge). The ribbon will then be attached to the book.
Decorate with whatever embellishments you feel like (I used the Little Yellow Bicycle Elizabeth Park Dimensional Butterflies, Chipboard Stickers, Fresh Verse Stickers, and Epoxy Stickers), and put a giftcard, some money or some chocolate inside the card. Voila!
All the pictures regarding this book is borrowed from wenche' blog. She had this book as a class at an event I participated in earlier this year. So all honor to her for teaching me:) Check out her blog here. [Cick here the Google Translate version! ;)]

Wow Mari! What a beautiful project!! Love the Dimensional Sticker butterfly on the inside! Perfect for a gift card (and some chocolate ... or perhaps a little bling?!). Who is going to try this out for Mother's Day? Or other gift giving occasions? Be sure to follow Mari's blog here!
And next ... Mari is such a peach! Remember her cute little giftbag that I posted on Monday?
Well happily, Mari has provided translations for the instructions! Here they are!
1. Cut a patterned paper to 8.5" x 11" and score at 2.5" and 6" on the short end.
2. Turn and score at 4.5" and 6.5" on the long side.
3. Fold all the scores towards the inside
4. Turn the paper with the outside up. Put your finger or the scoringknife in the cross where the scoring lines meet and fold the corner of the bottom backwards to the 2.5" scoring line.
5. Do the same with all 4 corners.
6. Turn the paper with the inside up again.
7. Fold all the edges and the bag starts to get its shape.
8. Put the long sides towards each other and squeeze some on the short sides too, so that you get your "bag" shape.
9. Make holes for the ribbon.
10. Decorate:)

That's it for today! More hijinks tomorrow! Have fun!
Can't wait to see what May Arts posts! (Did you see that yellow butterfly ribbon in yesterday's giveaway? M-m-m-m-m!!!)
Wednesday is hump-day and happily greeted by most of us working schlubs because it's halfway through the work week. Sadly this week it means we're halfway through our blog week with May Arts :(
Still let's try to look at the bright side - we're only halfway through! PLUS Wednesdays are prize days over on Facebook, so in case you're not a Facebook follower, go over to our Facebook Page and leave a comment under our Wednesday Challenge for another chance to win more May Arts and LYB goodies.
Then make sure you go over to May Arts' page too for yet another chance to win! And then don't forget to leave a comment on the blog also for your chance to win our blog prize pack. Sheesh. So many chances to win! I think we're spoiling you!
And now on to the fun stuff...
It's card day! And I have a few lovely cards for you, designed by our talented Biker Chicks! First up, a couple from Liz Qualman:
I love the blues, greens and yellows in the Elizabeth Park collection, so it was perfect that May Arts sent us this beautiful Solid Plaid yellow ribbon. I added a simple bow to my card, but included a chipboard flower with some bling and two Twig stick pins to complete the look. Love how the Elizabeth Park Journaling Cards combined with the Fresh Verse Stickers make great sentiments for cards.
I cannot express how gorgeous the May Arts Satin Pleats ribbon is in person. I had to use some on this card with just a little bit of the lace trim they sent us. The gray in the ribbon was the perfect shade to complement these gorgeous Elizabeth Park (Fuchsia Flower Dots and Bloom Bands). I simply added a couple of the Chipboard Stickers and a Fabric Favorites sentiment for good measure.
And now here's one from Biker Chick Tania Willis!
Hi guys! It's Tania! Wow the May Arts ribbons go so nicely with the Elizabeth Park collection! I had a lot of fun matching the ribbons to the papers and embellishments in my stash! Here are some step-by-step instructions so you can make this card for yourself!
1. Cut white cardstock to 7" x 10". Fold in half to form card base.
2. Cut EP - 102 Bloom Bands paper to 5" x 4". Adhere to card front.
3. Apply Tacky Tape strips just above and just below the paper.
4. Apply May Arts Green Twill ribbon along the bottom of paper. Trim overhang.
5. Apply May Arts Grey Satin Pleat ribbon along the top of paper. Trim overhang.
6. Adhere "bloom" sticker from EP - 135 Favorite Pieces with dimensional foam tape.
7. Create accordion folded blossom from EP - 305 Paper Flower Kit.
8. Adhere one flower embellishment from EP -219 Flower Button Dots on top of accordion flower and another just beside it.
9. Adhere green lace sticker from EP - 161 Paper Lace Stickers.
10. Cut 10" of May Arts Teal Shear/Line Edge ribbon and tie in bow. Adhere with gluedots.
11. Adhere pink felt flower from Maya Road using glue dots.
12. Adhere three additional flowers from EP - 220 - Fabric Favorites.

Thanks Liz and Tania! For more inspiration from these two awesome Biker Chicks! For more inspiration from Liz, check out her blog here; and you can follow Tania's blog here!
We have a fun week planned for all of you blog followers! We've teamed up with the a-MAY-zing ribbon manufacturer May Arts for a little blog swap fun this week! We sent their Design Team some Little Yellow Bicycle goodies and they sent our Design Team some beautiful ribbons, and we asked everyone to play!
And now you're in for some papery-embellishmenty-ribbony awesomeness this week!
First up, LYB Biker Chick Mari Aartun! Mari hails from Norway, and has been working with Little Yellow Bicycle for a little over a year now. Here's Mari to tell you about what she has made!
_________________________________________
I discovered that I have a habit when it comes to scrapbooking...I tend to use the back of the patterned papers more than the front! It may have something to do with the fact that the backs usually don't have that much pattern on them. And since I rarely use any cardstock as background, I think that must be the reason.
But with the Simply Perfect layout here, I challenged myself to use the Front of Springtime Sentiments. And to be honest, I think it turned out pretty good:)
I have to say, the bag of May Arts ribbons we got, fit perfectly with the Elizabeth Park collection! For this layout I used the 5/8" Yellow Plaid. I let the ribbon run across the page, and tied a knot behind a Felt Ribbon Slider. I added a chipboard sticker-flower on top of the felty one and put two Stick Pins with jewel stickers on into the knot behind the flowers. To finish off, I added the LYB blue Crepe Paper Lace Sticker on top of the ribbon.
For the next layout, You Are So Loved, I was back on track with using the back of a patterned paper :)
This is the Bloom Bands/Lattice-Grey, and I used the leftovers from the same paper, its front, and cut in different sizes before I sewed them on. I also sewed on a Fabric frame, and put two pictures inside the frame. For embellishments, I used a Dimensional Butterfly sticker, some small dots from the Epoxy Stickers sheet and off course: May Arts ribbons! I used just a tiny piece of both the Pink Faux Linen and the 5/8" Grey Satin Pleat ribbon. The were folded like an accordian before they were sewn on the fabric frame.
I also made a small gift bag. I found a recipe for a small giftbag in a norwegian card/scrapbooking magazine called Ett Trykk. [Note: you can follow the link but the website is in Norwegian!] I used the Teal Dots/Teal Daisy paper, and a Paper doily with a diecut paper from a Spellbinder dies under the big butterfly dimensional sticker. I punched a hole for the May Arts Sheer Glitter Dots ribbon, to hold the gift bag together. I think the ribbon fit perfectly!

Thanks Mari for sharing these fun projects with us! (If any of you out there can translate Norwegian to make that bag, be sure to let us know, LOL!). For more from Mari, you can follow her blog here: Mari's blog!
Now folow this link to hop on over to the May Arts blog for some more fun projects from THEIR talented design team! And be sure to follow the blogs all week for cool projects, and YOUR chance to win some of the lovely products we used in them!
The votes are in and the winner of the Elizabeth Park Sketch Challenge is ... KATE VICKERS!! Congratulations Kate! All of the finalists' layouts were fabulous but Kate's carried the vote.
Here's one last look at Kate's winning layout:
Thanks once again to everyone who participated in the sketch challenge. We'll be back with another one soon! Thanks for playing along!
Way back in January, we posted a pic of a beautiful birdhouse made using the Twig collection by Biker Chick Renee Foss on the blog (you can see it here). We received so many comments on that little cutie, we asked Biker Chick Tania Willis to make a spring birdhouse using the Elizabeth Park collection, for the newest Training Reel - so you can all make one for your very own!
So Tania got to work and ... WOW! What an adorable project!
So cute, isn't it?
Here's the Training Reel. Tania had a little trouble with the upload and had to play with the resolution (darn that YouTube!), so in the beginning the colors in the beginning of the video are not as bright as they should be.
All of the instructions to make the birdhouse are in the PDF down at the end of this post. Ready to get to work? Here are a few more pics so you can see the house from every angle!
This is the Left-Hand side of the house (I love how Tania used the scored papers from the Elizabeth Park Paper Flower Kit to make the fence!):
Check out the blinged-out centers of the stick pin flowers! So sweet!!
And the Right-Hand side:
And of course, more cute flowers!!
Here's a close-up shot of the front:
I love the little touches of bling Tania added!
And a sweet little butterfly taking a rest on the roof!
And here are the instructions!
Download Altered Spring Birdhouse Training Reel Instructions
You can find more projects from Tania here on her blog!
Have fun!
And now is the moment you've all been waiting for! Time to announce the FINALISTS from our Elizabeth Park Sketch Challenge!
Thanks to everyone who participated and sent in some absoultely amazing layouts. It's always so hard to select the winners, but these three women really ROCKED the sketch.
So here they are, in no particular order:
"A Day to Enjoy" by Kate Vickers:
"Full of Possibility" by Katrina Hunt:
And "Those Days of Being 4" by Aimee Kidd:
And the voting begins NOW!!! (And ends Friday, April 22. We'll post the grand prize winner next Saturday!)
Remember, all of these awesome finalists will win a $25 prize pack from Little Yellow Bicycle. BUT, the finalist who receives the MOST votes will win a $50 prize pack! Vote either by leaving a comment here on the blog, or by posting one under your favorite on our Facebook page. Please vote only ONCE!!!
And finally, an Honorable Mention shout out to Gabriela Davolt, our youngest entrant in the sketch challenge, who sent us this awesome layout:
And here is Gabriela herself with her layout. What a cutie!
Keep up the awesome work Gabriela! And because I think you are such a GROOVY scrappy girl, I am going to send YOU a prize pack from our groovy awesome Free Spirit collection! Thanks for sending in your work! I also want to compliment Gabriela's mom Lisa for supporting Gabriela's dreams. I always get a little sad when I hear moms say they won't let their kids get their hands on their precious scrap stash - and then in the same breath acknowledge that they have more stuff than they'll ever use. What a joy it is to let the kids create with the good stuff rather than our cast offs and scraps! In many ways I think kids are more creative than we'll ever be!
{Winners please send your mailing info to "info@mylyb.com" so we can send the prizes next week!}
Thanks for sharing everyone!
Hi everyone! It's another Training Reel Monday with Little Yellow Bicycle and Biker Chick Tania Willis has rocked another layout - this time using the amazing and ever-so-springy Elizabeth Park collection! Check it out:
One of my favorite pieces from the Elizabeth Park collection is the Paper Flower Kit. It comes with everything you need to create amazing dimensional flowers - layered and pinwheeled - like these:
And Tania gets you "up close and personal" with the flowers in her video tutorial! She'll show you exactly how to make them, step-by-step!
Here are a couple more of the flowers in the layout:
So many flowers! Feels like spring!
I also love how Tania used the Fabric Frames in this layout to add tons of dimension.
So here's the video! Take a few minutes and take a look!
And here are the complete, step-by-step instructions!

For more great ideas from Tania, you can follow her blog here.
Enjoy!
While I'm happy that April has finally arrived, I'm sad knowing that it also means it's time to say goodbye to our Elizabeth Park Guest Designer Michelle Lanning. :( Michelle has delighted us with her fun and springy posts featuring the Elizabeth Park collection and she has one final treat for you.
But first a little housekeeping! April 15 (that's next Friday!) marks the end of the Elizabeth Park Sketch Challenge! We've received a few beautiful entries, but we'd love to see MORE! Click here for the details, and enter by emailing your layout to "contest@mylyb.com" or by posting it on our Facebook wall!
Now read on blog followers for one more lovely project from Michelle Lanning. And don't worry! If you just can't get enough of Michelle, you can keep on following Michelle's blog right here! Here's Michelle!

Hello everyone! Michelle here with my last post for Little Yellow Bicycle. I first would like say to thank you to everyone at LYB. It has been a pleasure working with your fabulous product and I have had nothing but fun!!
For my last project I created something for my classroom. I have open house coming up and I thought it would be cute to have something a little Spring related that said my name.
Supplies: Elizabeth Park Collection
- Pattern Paper: Decorative Edge Cardstock, Tiny Lattice (Teal), Lacy Lattice (Grey)
- Dimensional Pop-Up Stickers
- Paper Doilies
- Canvas Stickers
- Fabric Favorites
- Fabric Frames
- Flower Button Dots
Other:
- Jenni Bowlin Alpha Stickers
- American Crafts, Thickers, Ribbon
To put this together I simply started with the wonderful decorative edge paper. I fanned half a sheet of the Lacy Lattice paper and adhered it with some strong double-sided tape. I then added 4 Doilies (stapled), 2 large and 2 medium. I trimmed the Fabric Border so it looked more like a ribbon and adhered with 3-Dimensional adhesive.
After that, I just embellished and had fun! I can’t wait to hang this up in my classroom. It will add such a fun scrappy touch!
Thanks again for having me!

Thank you Michelle! We have so enjoyed your posts, your talent, and your creativity! Don't forget to check out Michelle's blog for more beautiful projects, and watch for our next Guest Designer, coming soon, for Tiny Princess and Baby Saurus!!
A recent cyber-stroll through the blog-o-sphere turned up a bunch of great Twig and Elizabeth Park projects! So hop on the Little Yellow Tourbicycle with us for today's ride through Blogland and we'll show you what we found!
First up, Biker Chick Tania Willis posted this beautiful layout on her blog, featuring the Twig collection and her handsome hubby:
Here's a close up:
We keep telling you how versatile the Twig collection is - doesn't it look great with this photo of Tania's husband? And we certainly don't think he'll complain that it's too frou-frou, do you? For more info and photos of this layout, check out Tania's post here.
Next up, did you know that Biker Chick Liz Qualman writes for ScrapStreet.com Magazine? Yesterday, they ran a great article by Liz talking about how to use stickers to add polish and dimension to your pages. It featured this page by Liz, created using the Elizabeth Park collection:
Love it! Here's another close up:
Click here to read the entire article by Liz, and to see more photos of this adorable layout!
Next up, we travel back a couple weeks to the Archiver's Blog - for a fun feature on many scrapbookers' favorite topic ... scraplifting! Archiver's took this Twig album:
And scraplifted it to create this Elizabeth Park album:
According to the blog post, (which you can read in its entirety here), you can see a sample of this Elizabeth Park album at your local Archivers! (Be sure to scraplift it!)
And finally we travel back in time to a blog I bookmarked way back in February! This post, from Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine's blog features Karen Grunberg. I started following her blog after I saw this post. She got it in her head to take a family photo every week and it's so much fun to read her posts all about her weekly successful (and sometimes not-so-successful) family photo shoots - as well as her every day posts about a busy, creative, working mom's life (Can you relate? Yes I think so!)...an ambitious undertaking, to say the least. But such great results, I must say!
So here's the page she created using the Elizabeth Park collection:
And a close up:
M-m-m!! You can read the entire post here - with more photos! And you can follow Karen's blog (and see more of her amazing photography) by clicking here to go to Karen's blog!
... And thus ends our tour of the blog-o-sphere for today. We hope you've enjoyed the journey and it has inspired you to pull out your paper, scissors, and glue! Please be sure to "tip" your driver by posting a comment if YOU spy one of LYB's collections out there in Blogland! Happy trails!
Wow! A whole week has gone by without a blog post! Well it's been busy here but now we're back with another fun project from Elizabeth Park Guest Designer Michelle Lanning ... and Michelle's thinking SPRING with an awesome spring banner project for you! Can't wait to share it with you, but first a quick Q&A with Michelle!
LYB: Are you an events or moments scrapbooker?
Michelle: Moments.
LYB: Are you a "sit down" or "stand up" scrapbooker?
Michelle: Sit down.
LYB: What is your favorite quote?
Michelle: "We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us." - Joseph Campbell
LYB: Are you a neat scrapbooker or is your space a mess?
Michelle? Is there such a thing as a neat scrapbooker? Ha! While I scrap, yes it is a mess, but I can't move on to another project until my space is picked up.
LYB: Describe your style.
Michelle: Hmm, this is always a hard one for me. I would say colorful, happy, and sometimes whimsical.
Psst...hey Michelle - we think that cleaning up between projects makes you a neat scrapbooker!
OK now here's Michelle and that lovely spring banner!

Hi there! Michelle back again to share with you my latest project with the Elizabeth Park paper line. I decided, not so surprisingly, to make a banner to put up in our house.
I used various items for this banner, but the base of it was made using the Elizabeth Park Envelope Album kit. I glued most of the envelopes in the softer hues to the outside. Here is the breakdown of what I did for the base of each letter.
S – I used the fabric frame, pattern paper, and the journaling tag that was in the envelope kit.
P - Envelope & journaling card.
R - Chipboard from the Envelope Album, Paper Doily, journaling tag.
I - Envelope, journaling cards.
N - Fabric frame, pattern paper, fabric favorites.
G - Envelope, journaling card.
Here are a couple of close ups!
Supplies:
Elizabeth Park Supplies:
- Flower Stickpins
- Envelope Album Kit
- Chipboard Stickers
- Dimensional Pop-up Stickers
- Paper Flower Kit
- Fabric Favorites
- Flower Button Dots-layered
- Journaling Cards
- Epoxy Stickers
- Fabric Frames
- Paper Doilies
- Tiny Lattice-Teal, Pattern paper
- Lacy Lattice-Grey, Pattern Paper
Other:
Vintage Lace (my stash)
Thickers – American Crafts

Great project Michelle! Thanks! Can't wait to see what you create next! Remember to follow Michelle's blog here!
It's hard to believe it (yes folks, we're pinching ourselves) but it's supposed to get up to 70 degrees here in *sunny* Connecticut today, and the front page of Tuesday's Hartford Courant featured the Spring Flower Show at the original Elizabeth Park. Here are a few of my favorites (photo credits: Cloe Poisson/Hartford Courant)
...beautiful! That last one to me looked like it could have been pulled right out of the Elizabeth Park collection - right down to the umbrella! Totally my favorite. Love it!
Dare we believe Spring is finally here? Pffft. This is Connecticut. The cold weather will be back this weekend. But we have learned to enjoy it as it comes! The sun is shining and the windows are OPEN and we're not thinking about tomorrow!
And today I have another spring treat for you! A new post from Elizabeth Park Guest Designer Michelle Lanning! We'll start you off with a little more LYB Q&A so you can get to know Michelle a little bit better!
LYB: What's your favorite color to use on a page?
Michelle: Kraft, is that a color?
LYB: How long does it typically take you to complete a layout?
Michelle: A couple hours, sometimes more. And if I am lucky, it could be less.
LYB: Do you use any tools that are not specifically designed for scrapbooking?
Michelle: I sometimes use a plate as a template for a circle!
LYB: What's the oddest embellishment you've ever used?
Michelle: A cupcake liner. So far at least!
LYB: Chronological or out of order?
Michelle: Out of order!
A cupcake liner. Really? How did you use it? Did you make a flower? (Maybe if we ask real nice we can get her to send us a picture!) And now...here's Michelle!!!

Hi there! So glad to be back here at the LYB blog. I have a few cards to share with you today. I chose a standard card size of 4x5 ½. With the soft colors of this line, I decided to use 2 shades of gray as the base.
Card #1 Love Generously, Care Deeply, Speak Kindly
For this card I started with a darker gray base. I added the fabric frame to the left side of the horizontal card. I then trimmed the cardstock stickers and adhered them with 3 Dimensional squares. For a whimsical look I added the fence, birdhouse and butterfly. I finished the card off with some pink twine.
Here are the detailed supplies I used:
LYB:
Dimensional Pop-Up Stickers
Cardstock Stickers-Favorite Pieces
Fabric Frames
Chipboard Stickers
Jewel Stickers
Other:
The Twinery Twine
Cardstock: American Crafts
Card #2 Be Happy Card
[Size: 4x5 ½.] For this card I started with a LYB Doily (love them). I allowed some of the doily to be folded over the top of the horizontal part of the card. I then trimmed to my liking a tear out ticket and adhered it to the right side of the card. To finish the card off I added a mini banner (trimmed to fit the card). The Be Happy Chipboard Sticker overlaps the ticket and the doily. Two butterflies finish off the card.
Supplies:
Paper Doilies
Cardstock Stickers
Chipboard Stickers Embellishments
Fabric Favorites
Mini Banners
Tear Out Ticket Book
Other:
Cardstock: American Crafts
Twine: The Twinery
Card #3 Hello also, I love you
I used a lighter color gray for this card. I fell in love with the umbrella and rainboots featured in this line and I knew I just had to use them. I started by using the canvas sticker border for the top of the card. Using 3 dimensional squares I adhered then rain boot and umbrella. I then added on of the layered felt flowers under the umbrella. For a whimsical look, I added the small epoxy circles for some colorful raindrops.
Supplies Used:
Cardstock Stickers – favorite pieces
Epoxy stickers
Canvas stickers
Layered Felt-ribbon slider
Chipboard Stickers-embellishments
Other:
Cardstock: American Crafts
Twine: The Twinery

Thanks so much for sharing these beautiful cards with us today, Michelle! I can't wait to see what she creates next, can you? Don't forget to follow Michelle's blog here.
Oh and if you're in the Hartford, CT area and want to check out the spring flower show, it ends tomorrow with the Spring Flower Sale from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The sale benefits the volunteer group, Friends of Elizabeth Park, who keep the park looking so beautiful! Check it out!
Very exciting around here at LYB...because tomorrow (that's Tuesday, March 15th) we ship Elizabeth Park! One look at this bright and cheery collection and you just can't help but think about Spring! And since the snowflakes were flying once again here in CT today (not complaining, I really do love the snow, but seriously, enough is enough!) ... in my opinion, Spring can't come soon enough.
To underscore that point, and to WELCOME the Elizabeth Park collection to your local scrapbook store ... and hopefully your scraproom ;)... I thought I'd share this lovely layout from Biker Chick Liz Qualman, aptly titled "Welcome Spring" (do you think Liz is a little tired of the white stuff too?)!
But wait ... what's a new collection plus a new layout from Liz without a Sketch Challenge?
This month we would love to see pages with our BRAND new Elizabeth Park collection, however we know many of you are just now getting your hands on the Twig collection and still want to see plenty of pages with it as well.
This month Liz wanted to emphasize Little Yellow Bicycle embellishments and especially the awesome canvas sticker borders. They are available with many of our collections and add great color and texture to a project. The Elizabeth Park collection includes this super cute birds on a wire canvas border sticker which was a fun compliment to the photos of Liz's daughter playing on the ropes at the park.
It's fun to combine the different LYB embellishments to create a unique title. "Welcome, Spring! Enjoy" is a combination of Elizabeth Park Fresh Verse and Chipboard Stickers. No need for alphabets when you have wonderful sentiments built right into the embellishments.
One of the newest and most exciting Little Yellow Bicycle embellishments are these gorgeous flowers included in the Elizabeth Park Paper Flower Kit. If you love the look of homemade flowers, but have no idea how to make them or the energy to figure it out, these beautiful little gems come pre-cut and scored to make it easy to fold in all the right places. They also layer perfectly for added dimension.
Who can get enough of these gorgeous dimensional stickers with butterflies??? The added layers of patterned paper make these an extra special embellishment. Adding a bit of florist wire for antennae, bling for the body and floss for the trail easily make these fluttery friends come to life.
We look forward to your wonderful creations with Little Yellow Bicycle, so, please send us your interpretation of this sketch. Below are the rules:
- Use Liz's sketch as your guideline. However, feel free to flip it, modify it or make it your own.
- Please submit your layouts to "contest@mylyb.com" or post on LYB's Facebook Wall.
- Contest runs from now until April 14th.
- Submissions should be 75% from the Elizabeth Park or Twig collections - OR - you may choose another LYB collection.
- Liz will choose three finalists (two from our most recent releases, and one from all others). Each of the finalists will win a $25 prize pack.
- Then we'll post the three finalists so you can vote for your favorite. The grand prize winner, who receives the most votes on our blog and Facebook page, will win a $50 prize pack!
Thanks so much for participating in our recent sketch challenges. We have LOVED seeing all of your creations (sketch submissions and others). It's so much fun to see what you have created.
Good luck to everyone, and thanks again to Liz for another fantastic sketch!
The votes have been tallied and it was V-E-E-E-R-R-R-R-Y close, but our Twig Sketch Challenge Grand Prize Winner is Cookie Aguilar for her winning entry "Fun to Explore with my BFF!"
Beautiful layout Cookie and congratulations! You've won a $50 Elizabeth Park prize pack. Congrats also to our two other finalists, Joanne Burton and Karen Tarpley for their amazing work also on "Being Me" (Joanne) and "Welcome to the Jungle" (Karen). [Ladies, please email your mailing info to info@mylyb.com, with "Twig Sketch Challenge Winner" in the subject line!]
Thanks again to everyone who participated, and ALL of you who took the time to vote for your favorite! Biker Chick Liz Qualman will be back with a brand-new Elizabeth Park Sketch Challenge next week! Can't wait to see what you create!
We were thrilled when Michelle Lanning agreed to be our Guest Designer for the Elizabeth Park Collection this month! We absolutely loved the work she did with our Cupcake Love Collection on the Glue Arts blog a few weeks ago and asked if she would like to play in Elizabeth Park. Lucky for us (and you!) she said yes! Yipee!
So we shipped that collection right out to her and we just can't wait to share her inspiring projects with you over the next couple of weeks! In addition to being a "Glue Girl," Michelle is on a few *ahem* other design teams ;) and her work is often published in Scrapbook Trends and Cards magazines, among others. You can follow Michelle's blog here.
So come back soon for more from Michelle, and watch for Elizabeth Park at your LSS in the middle of March!
For now, here's a little more about Michelle (and be sure to read all the way to the bottom for a sneak peek of her first project!!)
Hi there, my name is Michelle Lanning and I am thrilled to be here guest designing for Little Yellow Bicycle. I have been a fan for so long and am thrilled to be here this month. I am a single momma of one vivacious 6 year old. She is the reason I started scrapping over 6 years ago, and she is also what keeps me flooded with photos. When I am not creating, I am an elementary school teacher to some very energized students. When I am not scrapping you can find me taking photos, reading, or sewing. I have been lucky enough to work for some awesome companies in the industry and have met many great friends along the way. There is nothing better than ending a hard day of work and being a momma by scrapping the evening away. It is my pleasure to do that with some gorgeous LYB products!
And finally, a little Q&A with Michelle!
LYB: What is your "go to" embellihsment?
Michelle: I would say journaling spots/tags. Is that even an embellishment? Hee.
LYB: Cardstock or patterned paper?
Michelle: Patterned paper!
LYB: What kind of music gets you in the scrappin' mood?
Michelle: I don't really scrap to music, but love listening to a movie while scrapping.
LYB: Crops or scrap alone?
Michelle: I love the social aspect of crops, but I prefer to scrap where I can access all my goodies!
LYB: Favorite types of projects - pages, mini albums, cards, altered projects, etc.?
Michelle: Layouts are my all-time favorite.
LYB: Favorite scrapbooking snack?
Michelle: Peanut butter M&Ms, yumm!
And finally that sneak peak:
Oooooh! Can't wait!!!
I'm so happy to share a new Training Reel - a brand new Elizabeth Park Card Trio from Biker Chick Jen Gallacher!

"How Does Your Garden Grow":
And the instructions! You can find more fun ideas from Jen by following her blog. Have fun!
As I'm sure you all will agree, we have been so lucky to work with Liz Qualman over the last several months. Ever since she agreed to Guest Design for us last November for the Savor collection, we've been impressed with her amazing talents and enthusiasm for this great hobby. So we're thrilled to announce that she has agreed to officially join our Biker Chick Team.
Of course this is great news for us - and great news for you too - because it means you'll enjoy even more inspiration from Liz (along with treats from the rest of our fantastically talented Biker Chick team) ... and we're also excited to be able to bring more Sketch Challenges your way! Welcome Liz! You can read more about Liz below, and then scroll down to see the amazing page she created with the Elizabeth Park collection ... shipping next week!
About Liz Qualman:
Liz Qualman has technically been paper crafting since kindergarten, but officially started to scrapbook in the winter of 2006. She is a page maker at heart, but also enjoys card making and altering. Liz has also been designing sketches for fellow crafters for many years. She has an extensive collection for anyone to use on her blog – My Little Sketch Blook. The creative process is important to Liz who could easily spend hours and hours holed up in her craft space.
Besides freelance designing for a few industry manufacturers, Liz is also a regular contributor and series writer for Scrapbooking & Beyond Magazine. Not only is the creativity of scrapbooking important to Liz, she genuinely loves to write about it and feels honored to have her work and words in print. Her work can also be found in other industry publications such as Scrapbook Trends, CARDS, Paper Creations and Scrapbooking and Cards Today. When asked about her style, Liz sums up her work as cute, bright, clean and sassy, which is just right for the two little stinkers she has at home who are the major source of inspiration for her work.
Liz is Colorado girl by transplant rather than birth and started out life in New England. However, she quickly realized that the Wild West was where she wanted to spend her time, despite the fact that the rest of her family prefers the East Coast. She calls the rugged Rocky Mountains home and lives with her wonderful husband, two amazing children and somewhat crazy dog. Although she would love for crafting to be a “full-time” hobby, she has to share the time with her ‘real’ job as an educator. Currently Liz trains teachers on best practices in the classroom and supports many of the public schools in her district in their quest for achievement.
... And now for a little inspiration!
Love this layout featuring Liz's adorable little daughter Maddie! Boy does this collection make my heart ache for spring (as I still gaze out on at least a foot of ... thankfully melting ... snow). It's going to take a few more warm weeks before those little crocuses can pop their head out but luckily next week we can all play in Elizabeth Park!
Here are a few more close-ups, and you can read more about Liz's thoughts on this layout by hopping over to her blog:
Let’s give a big round of applause for our Twig Sketch Challenge Winners! Liz had a tough time narrowing down the finalists since so many of you submitted some gorgeous designs with our Twig collection. We really enjoyed seeing all of the possibilities with both the collection and the sketch. Thank you so much to all who participated. Each of the three finalists will at least win a $25 Elizabeth Park Prize Pack, and the project chosen by YOUR votes will win the grand prize - a $50 prize pack of Elizabeth Park!
Vote for your favorite by posting a comment here or on our Facebook page below the layout of your choice!
Below are our finalists!
“Being Me” by Joanne Burton
“Fun to Explore with my B.F.F.” by Cookie Aguilar
“Welcome to the Jungle” by Karen Tarpley
The voting begins NOW!
We'll announce the grand prize winner next Friday!
We will also have another sketch challenge coming up in the near future along with the release of the Elizabeth Park collection, but in the meantime be sure to check out Liz's blog for some more sketch inspiration.
We are so excited March is here! So much going on. Later today, we'll be announcing the winners to February's Twig sketch challenge and in a couple of weeks...Elizabeth Park starts shipping (with any luck, just in time for spring here in the Northeast)!
One sad note about welcoming March is saying goodbye to our February Guest Designer, Iris Babao Uy. We have loved the way Iris has inspired us applying her unique style to our Twig collection. This last share is just as lovely ... it's Iris' take on our Twig envelope album....enjoy!
Little Yellow Bicycle just thinks of everything to make crafting very easy and lots of fun - even this mini-album kit. With a kit like this with pre-cut pages and papers to go with it, plus the beautiful embellishments in the Twig line, it becomes so easy and so fun to create an album for yourself or as a gift for a friend. Here is the cover of the album I made and pictures of some of the pages inside.
So pretty! Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us for month of February, Iris!
We have many more exciting things planned for March so be sure to come back!
What a fun day it has been - I just love giving away the prizes! After a week of intense (and extreeeeeeeemely close!) voting, it's time to announce the winner of our Cupcake Love sketch challenge *insert drumroll here* ...
Congratulations Misty Willis!
You're the Winner!
And seriously, congratulations to Robbie and Gretchen as well - those layouts are all just amazing. Let's all give them a hand. No, really. Go ahead and clap. I just did. Really! OK Thank you, and great job ladies! [Please send your mailing information to info@mylyb.com with "Cupcake Love Sketch Challenge Winner" in the subject line and we'll get those prize packs right out to you!]
We had SO much fun seeing your submissions for Cupcake Love, we decided ... what the heck? Let's do it again! And the lovely Liz Qualman was kind enough to whip up another sketch, just for Twig. [Thank you Liz!].
And here's what Liz had to say....
This was such a fun page to create. I love the earthy colors of the Twig collection. My family spends a lot of time playing outside and the blues, browns and greens are a wonderful palette to capture these beautiful moments, especially for these photos of my daughter lying in the grass.
We would love to see what you can do with this sketch! Turn it on its side, flip it over or add embellishments in unique places. The sky is the limit on how creative you can be....
To inspire you a bit more, below are a few details about how I used some of the wonderful products in the Twig collection to make my page extra special.
The loose journaling cards are beautifully detailed and perfect for capturing your thoughts. I used the prompts on the card to respond about my daughter and I really appreciate how the jouranling cards encourage you to use your own handwriting. Then, I dressed it up with a Flower Button Dot and a Glittered Chipboard Leaf.
I just adore the Dimensional Stickers with Glitter Accents, because the butterflies are absolutely gorgeous and add so much movement and texture to a project. I simply inked the edges and added some Jewel Stickers for the body. The Mini Banners also add just the right amount of fun to a page and I love how they are already pop-dotted and ready to go.
Twine seems to be the perfect compliment to the Twig collection. I wrapped some around my photos a few times and used one of the Chipboard Buttons as a clasp. Isn't it adorable how the design of the buttons are the growth rings from a tree?
So here are the rules:
- Use Liz's sketch as your guideline. Feel free to make it your own, flip it, stand it on its head, have fun!
- Please submit your layouts to "contest@mylyb.com" or post on LYB's Facebook Wall.
- Contest runs from now until February 28th.
- Submissions should be 75% from the Twig collection - OR - you may choose another LYB collection.
- Liz will choose three finalists (two from Twig submissions, one from all others) on 2/28/11. Each of the finalists will win a $25 prize pack from the Elizabeth Park collection.
- You'll get to vote for your favorite from among the three finalists. The grand prize winner, who receives the most votes based on your voting on our blog and Facebook page, will win a $50 prize pack!
Have fun!
Well this post was supposed to go up two days ago, but a "little" snowstorm had other ideas! After five canceled flights and a few re-routes, I lost my USB cable and couldn't download the pics! I'm pleased to report that our LYB Connecticut, Chicago, and Colorado contingents all made it home safely (though I'm still trying to figure out how I left LA a day before Ross and he got back to CT 3 hours before me, LOL!). Unpacked and unruffled, (and USB cable found), I can finally share with you the last of our CHA booth pics.
Love this little Tiny Princess card:
And another:
An envelope album! Notice these albums are a little shorter in length than the envies from some of our previous collections:
Inside of the album:
Another look:
These blocks and frame are too cute for words!!
On to more Elizabeth Park projects! You may have seen this little frame set on our website, but I'm here to tell you it is SO darling in person.
And who said Twig had cornered the market on birdhouses? Here's one made with Elizabeth Park!
This layout truly is beautiful!
And who wouldn't adore this lovely bouquet of spring flowers?
Another cute card!
Love this tray! [And, need I say it? YES! Welcome Spring!]
A close up of the Elizabeth Park flowers from the flower kit!
I {heart} spring!
The background paper is *perfect* for this layout, isn't it?
And one final peek at Baby Saurus ... remember the full CHA reveal post - when I said the picture didn't do these little felt dino-guys justice? Now you can see what I mean. Aren't they dino-licious???
Now real close up!
And one more before I go (because I love these little guys SO much!)
CHA was so much fun, but MAN it's good to be HOME!
We'll be announcing winners shortly from Sharon and Lori's comment giveaways and the Cupcake Love sketch challenge! Hooray!
So much going on here at LYB getting ready for CHA! We're packing boxes ...
Preparing Class kits ...
And of course, we'll be bringing lots and lots of LYB tote bags!
and crossing our fingers and toes hoping that this next round of snow doesn't prevent us - not to mention all of our boxes of goodies - from getting to LA in time for CHA Winter! Still, amidst all of the craziness, I sometimes stop and pinch myself and think "how lucky am I?" that I get to play with these collections and all their yumminess!
And so, without further ado, I present (*dun da da daaaa*)
LYB's CHA Winter collections!!!!
First, there's Twig! As the sticker says ... "Living life on a limb." This collection is all about a celebration of the loveliness that surrounds us every day. Whether you're communing with nature or just appreciating one of life's everyday moments, there's something for you in Twig. You can see the complete collection here on the LYB website, but here are a few of our favorites!
One of my favorites in our new collections are these butterflies. They'll add dimension and glitter to your projects - and they're just so much fun! You'll also see butterflies fluttering about in the Elizabeth Park collection... lucky you!
Next ... the cardstock. There are six, double-sided, textured pieces in this collection. Here's just one example (it's called Woods/Pleased Plaid). Trust me, you'll want to pick up at least two of each!):
Fresh Verse stickers (with thermography for added texture and dimension) are a part of every LYB collection, but I just love these! [Feel free to click on the image to take a closer look!]
And OMG feathers! Perfectly coordinated and sure to tickle your fancy!
And one more little share. Our talented friend Karen Grunberg sent us several great projects she created with Twig. We'll be showing more of them after CHA, but here's one. You can follow Karen's blog here: www.karenika.com.
Don't forget to view the entire Twig collection on the LYB website! Oh and one more great thing about Twig ... it's in stores NOW!!! Ask for it at your LSS or find it in your favorite online store!
Inspired by flowers, and birds and music on a warm spring day, the Elizabeth Park collection positively sings with happiness! Beautifully blended with a little bit of something for everyone - from flowers and birds to gardening themes, family and love!
Let's start with the Elizabeth Park butterflies I mentioned earlier (be still my fluttering heart!):
The collection includes six pieces of double-sided, textured cardstock, plus Chipboard stickers ...
And here's a close-up of the Paper Flower Kit Sharon mentioned in her previous post:
(and in case you missed it, here is the stunning layout Biker Chick Greta Hammond created with this very kit!)
And so much more! Fabric Favorites ...
Favorite Pieces ...
A little bit of bling...

And of course, Fresh Verse!
Elizabeth Park will be in stores in February. Make sure to see the whole Elizabeth Park collection here on the LYB website!
When my son was three, he knew the name of every dinosaur who ever roamed the prehistoric planet (and therefore so did I ... really ... you can quiz me). Seriously what little boy doesn't love the dinos? Maybe that's why I love the Baby Saurus collection so much!
Let's start with the cardstock. Six double-sided 12 X 12 textured cardstocks plus specialty cardstocks. Love this little "Dinos All Over" cardstock:
And the Dino Dots!
These 12 month cards are included with both collections and make it super easy to journal those special events and milestones of baby's first year!
And my personal favorite from the collection are these layered felt ribbon dinos!
[The picture truly doesn't do these cuties justice!] Here's one more project. Wouldn't this little banner look dino-tastic hanging in a little boy's room?
Check out the Gallery on LYB's website for more project ideas!
What's not to love about the Tiny Princess collection? It's full of little girl delights for your tiny princess! All pink and purple and sparkly whimsical! We begin with six sheets of double-sided textured cardstock, plus this darling decorative edge cardstock with glitter (be sure to also see the 6X6 sizes)!
Didn't you just love the princess with the handmade dress Sharon showed us yesterday? She created it with the little princess from the Favorite Pieces (shown below) plus a piece from the collection's crepe paper lace stickers! [Don't you also love that cutie cute little lineup of birdies?]
Don't miss the glitter and jewels on the Tiny Princess Chipboard Embellishments...
And every princess has a little bit of bling!
One of the new features of each of our CHA Winter collections are the "5 Things" pockets. A new take on our very popular "10 Things" title pockets, these are actully 5 separate envelopes with their own journaling sheet. And you can mix or match the things you love with individual stickers! You can see this fun new embellishment in this page done by Greta Hammond (and guess what ... it's not just for babies! this layout works for any little girl)!
Oh and I almost forgot this adorable chipboard spinner! The perfect embellishment - no matter what the theme!
There's so much more to show from this wonderful collection, but I must move on! Be sure to see the rest here, on LYB's website! And watch for Baby Saurus and Tiny Princess at your LSS in mid-April!
Here in Connecticut it is snowing again, and we are on the brink of breaking the record for the most snow in a single month ever in recorded history. Do you think we need a little Sweet Summertime? Just thinking about this collection warms me up! Bright beach blanket colors, tangy lemons, juicy watermelons and my very favorite...fireflies...fills this collection with SUMMER FUN!
Here is one of my favorite papers from the collection:
See what I mean? This collection also features six double-sided, textured 12 X 12 papers, as well as this adorable glittery firefly paper! Practically glows like a firefly's tail!
The collection includes this sweet chipboard banner album:
... and these coordinating papers and pieces- pre-cut to fit perfectly!
And who doesn't enjoy a glass of sweet lemonade in the summertime?
You'll flip over these chipboard shapes (and the collection also includes transparency shapes!)
The ever-popular LYB "10 Things" pocket:
And don'tcha just love this chipboard spinner?
There's banners...
And so much more! Summer can't come soon enough! Sweet Summertime will be in stores in late spring. See the rest of the collection here on the LYB website!
Phew! That's a lot! It's going to be a fun fun spring! Thanks for looking and maybe we'll see you at CHA!!
... Nothing inspires me like a garden, bursting with life! When designing my new little studio behind my house, I made sure that the view of the garden (my own personal, postage-stamp park!) was given special attention... You see, flowers make me HAPPY, and happy is a very good place to be when creating and designing!
When designing the Elizabeth Park collection, I thought it would be wonderful to bring some of that happiness to your projects by offering some fresh, inspiring pieces. I came up with the new Paper Flower Kit - 48 delightful pieces in an assortment of patterns and colors, styles and sizes, perfect for using singly or layered, inked or glittered, dressed up or down. They add a wonderful touch of dimension and depth, and I think you'll love the way they'll bring life to your pages, cards, albums and projects!
I had a feeling these flowers would be fabulous, but i had no idea just how fabulous they'd be... Feast your eyes on this~
Oh. My. Bloomin'. Goodness. Our talented Biker Chick Greta Hammond created this stunning page with the Paper Flower Kit and a few other lovely pieces from the collection. Gorgeous, Greta! (your page and your sweet daughter!)
Here's a closer look at the details~

Hello! It's been a while since I've been here, and I've missed it! I'm happy to share another little glimpse of our next spring colection, Elizabeth Park, which we'll officially unveil at CHA. Let's take a peek! Who couldn't use a stroll through a beautiful little garden?
On a day like today, with nothing but snow everywhere I look, Elizabeth Park provides a welcome diversion. WIth butterflies and birds and flowers abounding, a sweet romantic flair, and cheerful colors throughout, it gives a girl some hope for the beauty of spring that awaits us, with all its newness and warmth... I hope it does the same for you!
The beautiful evening we spent in the real Elizabeth Park was truly inspirational, complete with live music (you'll find musical touches throughout), picnic in the grass, and happy sights and sounds all around. It was such fun to tell that story through the design of the collection.
Here's a peek at a charming layout from Biker Chick Vicki Boutin... I just love the clean composition and lovely little details~
And another beautiful little project from Biker Chick Jen Gallacher, featuring our Fabric Frames, Dimensional Pop-up Butterflies and more.... Isn't it adorable?!?
And finally, one of my new favorite embellishments - our 5 Things Envelopes set, with interchangeable title flags and adorable little journaling cards. How much fun would this be for a mini album or card for Mother's Day, a page about YOU, or about anything you love!
Well, I hope you've enjoyed this little glimpse of Elizabeth Park! Be sure to check back often, as we'll be doing some great giveaways, and sharing more inspiring and CHEERY springtime projects!
Until then~
Sharon
With apologies for the delay (since we've been talking about this sneak peek since the beginning of the week) ... I'm finally taking a moment to give you a teeny tiny sneak peek of the new Elizabeth Park collection from Little Yellow Bicycle!
Sharon's been racking up the frequent flier miles traveling, and I was hoping she could help introduce this fun, springy new collection (which, if you were paying attention, Sharon made reference to waaaaay back in a July blog). Hopefully she'll get a moment to catch her breath (and maybe unpack) and then you'll hear from her ... but meanwhile, you get me!
So anyway ... here in Hartford, Connecticut (very close to LYB's headquarters in Bloomfield), is a beautiful park filled with roses, ponds, ducks, squirrels, birds, and other joyful blooms and creatures ... a little oasis, if you will, on the outskirts of our capitol city. it's called Elizabeth Park and it is truly resplendent with wonder and color in late spring. A summer picnic in this beautiful park served as a bit of the inspiration for Sharon's latest collection.
But I don'twant to steal all of Sharon's story. I'll let her tell it in the next few days. But as promised, here are a few teeny tiny sneak peeks to pique (or is it "peek"?) your curiosity!
There are butterflies ...
Beautiful spring colors (and of course birds!) ....
And of course, beautiful blossoms!
Check back for more sneak peeks in the next few weeks! Thanks for looking!
